My dear wife and I have recently moved into our new home in Pretoria East. When we had to decide on which timber roof truss company to appoint to design and erect our roof, I did approach a few roof truss manufacturers and explained that our roof was fairly intricate. Whereas I am now 74 years old, I have been associated with the prefabricated timber roof truss industry since its inception in SA in the mid 1960's, and personally designed roofs, also being an author of 2 publications on the design and specification of timber roofs as well as being an inventor with registerd patents in SA of timber roof members and metal connector plates many decades ago, as well as being a Senior Roof Inspector. As such, I wanted to be certain that the roof truss manufacturer was credible and did not take any shortcuts in its design and roof erection in order to save money at my expense. I am not here to discredit any of the roof truss manufacturers in the market, but only to state that after having met Mr. Roux Malherbe from LCP Roofing, and having had a meeting with their chief designer, I was most impressed with the way they handled my enquiry. I was taken to their factory and saw the mechanised machinery. Although cost was not my major concern, but rather having a well designed roof over my head, I was surprised that the quote from LCP Roofing was more competitive that the other quotations received, Their delivery and roof erection was spotless and on time. They did not take any shortcuts such as utilising ungraded timber. If I should build again, I would not waste my time running around to any other roof truss supplier, but would contract with LCP Roofing. Dr Ralph Sorensen, Pretoria East
