I contacted Leonie at LEC Marketing in August 2021 to create a website for me through which I could sell short online courses. I chose them because I believed that they had experience with integrating a learner manager system with a website. The website was done in September 2022 but there were issues with the integration of the LMS into the website. This was resolved with the help of the LMS IT helpdesk. LEC at this time offered me a mobile app for my website which I purchased. In June 2023 I informed LEC that the mobile app could not be accessed. LEC shifted the blame for this to the company who has from the beginning hosted my domain, but they eventually resolved the issue. In August 2023 I informed LEC that learners were unable to leave reviews on the website. Alex claimed that updates were needed to sort out this issue, but it was not resolved. In February 2024 I had issues with a rate limit on the site which interfered with the integration. Once again blame for this issue was passed to the hosting company. Alex then claimed that they needed to reinstall WooCommerce and that the PHP the website was running on was outdated and was a security risk. Leonie at LEC then informed me that if they design a website for me but I do not give them the domain business to host my site then they are no longer obligated to assist me, but they would help me if I moved my hosting to them. Then I would receive free of charge updates and maintenance. Leonie then offered to assist me at an unaffordable rate per hour with no guarantee on how long it would take to resolve issues. At no point in all our dealings was an after-service agreement discussed with me. After this Leonie copied legal@lecmarketing.co.za to email correspondence and I was informed that I should refer to the service I paid for as this would be all I would receive. I concurred that legal would be best, but they then agreed to hand over the administration of my website to me. I then turned my attention to the transfer of my mobile app. Leonie informed me that they would only transfer the app to me once I provided them with my developer account. I am not an IT person and I had to quickly learn what this was but eventually I had a developer account. On 8 April 2024 Daniel asked for access to my developer account and said he ‘would take it from here’. On 15 April 2024 I received a WhatsApp message from Daniel with instructions on how to transfer my app. When I told him that I did not understand what to do I was informed that he would draft a handover report which I could take to another development company or follow a legal route. LEC Marketing is currently still the site administrator of my website and mobile app.

Please don't buy from these people they don't know what they are doing. I paid for them to deveop a website. I told them exactly what is it that I want this website to do but they failed and gave me a useless website. They didn't even know how to access a web hosting.

No responses via email! I have sent Leonie (Leoniec@lecmarketing.co.za) countless emails and I get no responses, If i am lucky she'll respond once every 2 weeks. Number just rings even though I call between business hours. No landline!! Quick to send me emails or invoices to pay but cannot even give me proper service. I am not the first to feel this way! I will be getting my website done somewhere else.
