Unfair deductions on my deposit refund.
My name is Nyiko Nkanyana and I am writing to formally file a complaint against my former landlord regarding the deductions made from my rental deposit following my recent evacuation of the unit. I used to rent at basil court, unit 4 and vacated the unit on 31/01/2025. During the exit inspection conducted by liesel Kovacs noted that only light cleaning was needed—specifically, one cupboard had not been wiped which i explained that i had out plastics of my food since I move dout the very same day of inspection and the cooker hood’s flip was not wiped (according to her(. The rest of the unit was properly cleaned. Additionally, when asked about a ****roach observed during the inspection, I informed her that I had seen one or two ****roaches after returning from home approximately two weeks prior to my evacuation. Without prior notice or clear communication, my landlord subsequently engaged a professional cleaner at a cost of R950 and arranged for pest control fumigation for R1,000. I specifically inquired about the pest control clause in my lease, but found that no such clause was included. Furthermore, the landlord merely mentioned these services without clearly communicating the total costs involved or clarifying who would be liable for these expenses. This lack of communication left me unable to respond or rectify any alleged issues. Three weeks after my evacuation, I received a refund of only R2,225 from my deposit, with no detailed explanation of the deductions. Given that the lease does not assign liability for pest control or additional cleaning beyond the minimal issues noted at the exit inspection, I believe these deductions are unwarranted. I have tried to engage with her further on the matter and she has been ignoring my emails and whatsapp communication. I understand the fees for breach of contract but however the rest of the deduction I personally feel like was an unfair expense.

Poor management style
This is the worst realtor inSA. Giving her our property is quite regrettable. At the end of lease, she quarrelled and blocked the external inspectors. Because of the damages done to the unit. Neither was the property repaired or the deposit made available. She left it dilapidated. Homeowners should avoid her agency. Highly unprofessional and irresponsible agents.

This is the worst realtor inSA. Giving her our property is quite regrettable. At the end of lease, she quarrelled and blocked the external inspectors. Because of the damages done to the unit. Neither was the property repaired or the deposit made available. She left it dilapidated. Homeowners should avoid her agency. Highly unprofessional and irresponsible agents.

Amazing people
I don't even know where to start. We have had wonderful service from Liesel and Chantel throughout the year we rented a property from them. We went through a lot of challenges during that year and they have been so patient, supportive, kind, remained professional and they were so understanding throughout. It has really been amazing how well they treated us even beyond our lease termination. I can only really wish them all the best. A lot of success and stay blessed. I'm so grateful for everything they did for my family and how comfortable we lived. God bless you

Amazing people
I don't even know where to start. We have had wonderful service from Liesel and Chantel throughout the year we rented a property from them. We went through a lot of challenges during that year and they have been so patient, supportive, kind, remained professional and they were so understanding throughout. no refund do not use them
this is the worst home rental business ive ever en counted they dont do not fix the glitches if anything happens , they haven't paid me my deposit even after the rushed me to move out they have excuses all the time about usage bul**** even if you've paid them

DEPOSIT-REFUND
<p>We did the exit insection and everything was fine the house was cleaned.only two globes were not working and i explained to her that i tried to replace the globe but couldnt find that type of a globe,mind you the globe was not even broken.Ive been calling her wanting my refund since last week and she was coming with different excuses and ended up not taking my calls,today she deposited my refund short by R700 the break down i get is that im charged for globe,cleaning and other stuff,wheres when i signed the exit inspection i was with her and she was happy with everything.</p>
