I purchased a car, SUV, from Ashok Layland, Benoni (then called Mahindra, Benoni,) almost a year ago. I was told before the purchase that the car will be getting a full service and thorough engine check up, so that I receive a vehicle without issues and one that is in excellent condition. As a female, I placed my trust in this company and the salesman, Jacques Bornman, to proceed with the purchase. After the deal was sealed, I had an oil leek about a week later, which they gladly fixed with no problems. Around 9 months later, I started experiencing serious problems with the car. It started to loose speed, where I was unable to go faster than 40km per hour on the open road. I decided to have it checked by two different mechanics, and both mechanics found that the thermostat housing needed to be replaced. I did not hesitate to get a new part installed. During the replacement, the mechanic found that the thermostat had been tampered with previously - the actual thermostat in the housing was removed previously, and used O rings, which were way to big for the housing was used. This, created water loss on my vehicle. I still did not hesitate to have the part replaced with a new one in order to prevent my vehicle's engine from seizing. However, when my mechanic did the job, he found a rusted steel pipe as well! This pipe allows for healthy water flow in the vehicles engine. This rusted pipe, according to my mechanic and a second opinion (mechanic), was as a result of the fact that there wasn't any anti freeze added to the vehicle during the service with Ashok Layland. I phoned Mahindra Benoni after learning about this problem, which I was then informed that they were taken over by Ashok Layland and run by two new owners: Riaan Wessils and Franscois Alant. I was given the run around over a period of about 2- 3 weeks and eventually phoned by their mechanic, who reacted completely hostile towards me and attempted to get out of any form of accountability for the problem. I persisted for a win-win situation for another 2-3 weeks and eventually spoke to one of the owners, Riaan Wessils. About a week later, I was informed that they will not accept accountability in any way, shape or form for this neglect and that I am left to deal with the problem 100% on my own. In order to fix the entire problem, just to get my vehicle back on the road and prevent the engine from seizing, I had to spend an estimated R9000.00 Ultimately, it is evident, that vehicles are being sold by Ashok Layland and Mahindra under false promises, and within one year of sale, you can be sure to pick up problems, spend large amounts of money on your vehicle, and receive no customer care service from these guys. Please be vigilant for this type of incompetence from dealerships such as Mahindra and Ashok Layland. This, is the type of poor after 'service' which we need to eliminate and put such businesses out of business in order to make space for those business owners who truly cares about their clients.

I have had the worst experience with this dealership. Myself and my husband bought a car from them this year (2024) and ever since having that car, it has been the worst experience. Our car has been in the hands of different people, yesterday the 6th August, it marked three months since paying for a car which isn’t in our possession. They have a bush mechanic posing a qualified mechanic, yet this car has been breaking whilst in their chop shop. I wish to get out of this deal as in yesterday already. This has not been a pleasant experience at all. I am warning anyone who wishes to buy a car at the Mahindra Benoni dealership, NOT TO GO THERE!!!!!!!‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

I am not happy with how my situation was handled at Mahindra Benoni. I went to the dealership because the oil on my vehicle was leaking. They did an inspection on my car which went well. The next day when I was driving to Brakpan on 80km per hour my car bonnet opened. So I have a scratch and a dent on my car no one was fiddling with the bonnet except for Mahindra Benoni. I immediately called them and they did not take any liability and told me to sort it out with my insurance. I had a very bad experience because this issue is not even my fault

THE WORST COMPANY! ONE STAR IS WAY TOO MANY. I took my 2019 Mahindra XUV300 W8 for it's 50 000km service in July. (ONLY A SERVICE). Got my car back, and I have had problems since then. (keep in mind - before the service, my car was 100%) So this car started to 'shake' and it was as if there was no diesel coming through. Took it back. They ASSUME that I use filthy diesel (I only use Shell - and if NEEDED I will use Engen, Caltex, etc - big garages - so according to them, these garages gives filthy diesel) so my diesel filter had to be changed. They did not want to test my diesel - they kept on assuming it is filthy. They only 'changed' it on 30 000km service and on 20 000km it was FILTHY - not even sure if it is my filter they showing me, because IF they did change it on 30 000km, it would never look like this, I really do think that they never changed the filter. I paid for it to be fixed, just to get them out of my life. Got the car back again - drove +-20km, it started to shake, engine light comes on, limp mode - phone them - they tell me I can drive with the car. Took it back, AGAIN. Now they telling me that they forgot to reset my car when they removed the battery to replace the filter - not making sense, BUT OKAY. - got it back again. Drove a bit with it - in traffic engine light comes on, shaking, limp mode. So I phoned them again. They tell me I have to just bring it back again. Took it back - AGAIN - now they speculating (they have NO clue on what is going on). It might be the injectors, might be something electrical. They keep on 'testing' my car, uses all the diesel in the car, phones me to tell me they going to through in R200.00, and I have to pay for it. (I HAVE NO PROOF THAT THEY ACTUALLY DID THIS, when I asked them for the slip - it was gone, so I am still waiting for it.) Eventually Mahindra SA says they have to replace the engine harness, but this workshop still thinks it is not the harness. They think Mahindra SA is wrong and that it is actually the injectors and not the harness. So according to them, I will definitely go back again, because the 'know' that the harness is not the problem. They replaced the harness, and I got it back again (they had my car for +-1 month, they just don't care - you sit without transport). The same day I got my car back - the idling was wrong, there's new scratches on my car - BUT OF COURSE, it wasn't them. So PLEASE WALK AROUND YOUR VEHICLE PROPERLY BEFORE TAKING YOUR CAR, if you decide to come to this 'workshop'. They also tried to polish it out TWICE. 1st time - so that I won't see it, 2nd time because I complained. Why go through so much trouble if it wasn't you? - and it is definitely not for client services, because you still have to learn about this. I took the car back again, now, after they had the thing for a month, their mechanic says that there is some clamp loose (and he did not touch this thing), but after he did my service - everything that he 'did not touch' broke. THIS IS FUNNY. So he 'fixed' it - got it back again, it was STILL NOT FIXED. I requested the photos they took of my vehicle - but the phone is 'broken' - I also requested the video footage on the 1st of September - still waiting for it. I want to see how they scratched my vehicle. It seems like they trying to hide something. I also HAD rubber carpets in my car, and this is also gone now, 'they did not mention it on the job card' so they say it wasn't in the car. WHY mention rubber carpets on the job card, it is not as if the rubber carpets is going to influence the car's driving? This workshop is just ridiculous. They also don't walk around the car with you to show what mess they made, they just talk A LOT to chase you away. NO INSPECTION DONE. So I took my car to Auto Sphere Mahindra. They fixed the idling in a day's time, and the rest of things that was still a mess, which Mahindra Benoni couldn't see. They took some of my diesel out to see if it is filthy - it is clean. Mahindra Benoni does not know how to work on vehicles, so they just make a mess when they TRY to think.

Absolutely shocking service. My vehicle went in to be repaired, which took nearly 3 months. No job cards signed, made me run around after them to it, going as far as withholding my personal property that was taken from my vehicle without my consent initially. When my car came back, the alternator was not working and was leaking huge amounts of oil. Had it checked by an independent party, after sending the vehicle back to Mahindra Benoni to be assessed first, only to find out they had bent my sump causing the leak, hadn't installed the oil pump correctly leaving bolts in the pan, and had not connected the alternator correctly. This nearly caused an engine seizure and huge damage to my vehicle. To date still not a word from them, as my calls and emails have been ignored. Please stay away from these guys as they are unprofessional and clearly have no idea how to work on any engines.

I am Beyond disgusted and shocked at the way I was treated at Mahindra Benoni on Friday, 18/12/20. On the Tuesday I went to trade in my vehicle for something else. I was offered a price for my trade in vehicle and finance was approved. On Thursday I signed all the paper work and they told me to collect the new car on Friday morning. I went back Friday morning to collect the car. While I was checking the vehicle, lights, breaks etc, the manager told some guy to take my trade in vehicle for a test drive. This man damaged my trade in car on the test drive. When he got back, the manager was screaming at me that the is damaged and how can he take this as a trade in. He refused to take the vehicle because it was damaged. His one sales person told him the car was not like that on Tuesday or Thursday. He wouldn’t listen and treated me like I was some kind of an animal. He called the deal off and told me to leave. I said this man must be liable for the damaged caused to my car, he said no and refused to give me his details. I am appalled by his behaviour towards me and I will be taking this further because I am sitting with a vehicle that is damaged and I need to have fixed and it was not my doing. I am disgusted and extremely upset about this!!!

Very good new and used car dealership. Nice central location which is easily accessible. There are a wide range of vehicles in stock. The staff are professional and very helpful. I was offered assistance as soon as I arrived. There is also secure parking on the premises. Worth visiting if interested in purchasing a new or used car.
