Service delivery is usually appalling in Makhanda - it has gone from worse to worst. We have not had water in our pipes for 11 days. We have five dams - they are all 100% full - it has been raining for 24 hours non-stop and yet the worst municipality in the country cannot supply water.

Makana municipality grossly overcharges for services hardly rendered. Their water meters are broken - I have reported several times - yet they charge enormous amounts for water - which we could not consume unless we refilled a swimming pool weekly which we do NOT have. They grossly over charge for electricity even though I have send them photographs of the electricity meters - proving their massive incompetence. Is that fraud or extortion? Or just the ANC's way of funding their election campaign?

On the 15th of September I have booked the community Hall in Extension 9 (Grahamstown) for our Grandmother's funeral. We were told to pay a refundable R450 upfront except the rental money for the of which we did. Same afternoon after the funeral I completed a claim form with the caretaker of the hall for the refund. Until today we have not received our money. Whenever I call the Hall caretaker, he promises to call me back but not even once he followed up with me regarding this money. It is very disappointing what they do to bereaving people. The money might seem or sound small but the family needs it.
