As part of our Cape Town City Pass website had a free meal at Mariner's Wharf. Got off the bus. In to the restaurant. Showed and told the waiter we are on a city pass. Did not even ask what just turned and ordered. Afterwards we were told we have to pay as it is only at the "Bistro" at the bottom. Said it is our own "stupidity" that we did not read it the brochure. After threatening social media exposure, as they did not want to consider that we told the waiter we had a pass, the manager told me if I want to be vindictive towards them I would have to live with it. Easily the worst experience I have ever had on holiday. Would not suggest Mariner's Wharf and would go as far as to say avoid the Cape Town City Pass as well. Complained to the City Pass first. They just said that the restaurant would not consider my side of events and they hope we enjoy our trip. Be very mindful before supporting this business. Customers definitely do not come first at this establishment. I even said I would pay for a lie detecting test to proof I showed the waiter the Pass. It is sad that visitors to Cape Town get treated this way.

My wife and myself were on holiday and decided to visit Hout Bay harbour and have lunch there. We wanted to get some fish and chips. We decided to try out the Mariner's Wharf restaurant upstairs instead if standing in a line to get our food. What a huge mistake. The waiter was very friendly. That is unfortunately where it ended. We both ordered hake and calamari combo. The fish was OK. The calamari was tuff and over cooked. The tartar was nearly uneatable. Had no taste what so ever. We informed the waiter. He later returned and informed us that the manager acknowledged that key ingredients were missing. The manager did not make any effort to come and apologise. He left it up to waiter to take the wrap. Our bill was in access of R700. We will NEVER visit that restaurant again. There are enough other restaurants and eateries to visit. The view means nothing if the food is sub standard. After all one pays for the food. The view is just a bonus.

Great sushi experience. From the outside it looks like a quiet, small restaurant but in reality it is massive inside. We went in the evening and there was a loud and bubbly atmosphere. Waitresses were lovely and helpful, told us what was halal. I love that they offer clean wet towels to wash our hands with. Sushi was delicious with lots of flavour packed into every bite.

Myself and my husband were at the Mariners Wharf restaurant for our 48th wedding anniversary on the 4th of February. We drove all the way from Bellair to Houtbaai. We ordered a platter for 2. It looked devine and was very tasty. We sipped on a glass of savanna light. While listening to the sea in the back ground. And a light wind, Seabreeze blowing over us. Had a lovely warm flavourful cuppacino in the lounge which has furniture like a boat. It is as if we were on a romantic cruise. The afternoon at the Wharfside restaurant was a day to remember.

We had family and friends from Durban who we wanted to spoil as they do have good seafood in Durban and having been to this restaurant quite a few times and usually having good food and service, I am quite disgusted by the terribly racist experience I had yesterday. We were told to wait for a table after already making a reservation, and then be put at two separate tables because of social distancing s they claimed. However, at another 1 or 2 long tables with about 10-15 white patrons who were sitting so close together they could smell each other’s breath... there was no social distances whatsoever. In this day and age to still have managers of restaurants who give preference to white people when our money’s value is all the same!!! Our bill came to R2650 so I don’t see how we are any different from others and what a way to welcome tourists to Cape Town!!!!! Diagusting!
