24 Jan 25, I needed a handy man to remove & reinstall gate steel track. I contacted my welder Sam, who previously worked on my property, informing him about the steel gate track that had to be replaced asap, as the sliding gate kept on sliding open & closed halfway on its own. Sam informed me, he was extremely busy, & had 2 additional jobs he already committed to in different locations & he was unable to assist me but he can refer me to one of his colleagues, Matho Electrical, based in the area, I resided at. Sam informed me about the materials needed, job pricing (materials required, & number of hours it would take to complete this job. Total costs of all materials & labour price inclusive R1.5, which I agreed to. Sam spoke to Matho Electrical, provided him with my contact details, & a detailed description of the job & pricing all inclusive Matho Electrical contacted me, confirmed that Sam explained what needed to be done on my property, & he can come through take measurements & complete the task before 18h00, as he did not want to disappoint Sam, for future job requests. Matho Electrical, came through at 10h00 took measurements of the concrete flooring area & indicated he needed to go to the hardware store to purchase materials, & collect 2x of his workers busy at another site to complete my job. On completion of entire job, Matho Electrical requested payment of R3.5k, which I never agreed to. I was quite shocked at this pricing, & I told him that Sam & I both agreed to the price of R1.5k. Matho Electrical, indicated he was not aware of this payment agreement, Sam pricing is not applicable to him, he completed the job & should be paid in full. I tried calling Sam, several times to verify this, to no avail, cell went on voicemail. I informed Matho, I can pay R1.5, & the balance he must speak to Sam, Matho informed me that Sam & his team didn't do the job, etc etc. Total paid to Matho R2k. Later during the evening, I tried Sam again to no avail. I chatted via WhatsApp with Matho, asking why is the pricing soo high & he must provide us with a breakdown of materials, labour costs. Matho Electrical, explanation, digging out the old 6 foot concrete flooring was very labour intensive, 3x men worked on site, a lot of welding was done on the new steel gate track; & materials purchased was extremely pricey. (Material: 2x Steel pipes: =R1200.00, concrete mix 1x40kg bag =R250.00 , welding accessories no mention of what accessories was used , nor amount provided, steel cutting discs never used & number of hours worked is equivalent to full day job. I asked for copies of the tax invoice for materials purchased & informed him the entire job was completed in 4 hours, by 2x of his staff. He refused to provide an invoice, & kept insisting that the normal standard going rate to replace an existing steel gate track is R3.5k.. Matho Electrical dropped 2 guys off & left. I called Matho @ 16h45 telling job was completed. I asked Matho Electrical, if his men dug out a 6 foot concrete grave, than why did they only used 1x 40kg bag of concrete mix, the other 1x40kg concrete mix was stored in his vehicle. Why purchase 2x 40kg bag of concrete mix, all rubble collected was placed inside the empty concrete mix bag, which was 1/4% full, which Matho Electrical disposed of. My neighbours saw 2 men work on steel gate track, why is he insisting 3x men worked, on my property. The following day, hubby made contact with supplier, where materials were purchased. Total Material costs:- R650.00 (1xsteel bar & 1xpipe, 1x 40kg concrete mix, 1x steel cutting disc & 1 box welding rods). At the suppliers premises hubby engaged with a number of handyman & asked about their pricing on the replacement of a 1x 3m steel gate track, price were in the ranges from R1200-R1500. Hubby shared text messages with Matho & shared the supplier's quote, Matho extremely unhappy about the supplier quote, & materials that was used, hubby questioned him about his pricing of R3.5k for a 4 hour job, & the 2 men that did the job. Matho Electrical insisted the going rate to replace a steel gate track is R3.5k. 26 Jan, 14h30, hubby at work, Matho Electrical sends whatsup messages & WhatsApp calls threatens hubby & me stating he's at our premises, he going to refund our money, & will demolish the new concrete flooring, & remove the steel pipes used. I called him & informed him you are free to do as you please, make sure you leave the steel gate track in the very same condition you found it, when you took measurements,if not you will be liable for damages on my property. He continued lying he was at the gate, threatening me, I told him hubby at work, chat with him on WhatsApp, he's not allowed to take private calls during working hours.. I called security company asked them to dispatch a guard he to inspect the house, guard waited at gate for 15 minutes.. Matho Electrical was never at my property, making endless threats for money.. I called Matho Electrical on WhatsApp & did a conference call with him & another handyman, that hubby met at supplier hardware & handyman told Matho Electrical his pricing is extremely high, why is he soo greedy, everybody broke in Jan, does he need money to pay off his debts, trying to suck money out of us. Sam returned my call yesterday afternoon asking why Matho Electrical was never paid in full, I shared all proof of Matho Electrical conversations. This morning Sam called again , & confirmed he was never aware that Matho overcharged us, Matho Electrical informed him we refused to pay. 25 Jan, I informed Matho Electrical, his extension cord blew my wall switch inside the house, he rep**** he cannot be held liable for any electrical faults in my house.. I told him to engage with his workers, & get clarity on the wall switch which tripped the wall switch, which worked for 15 minutes, while they were welding & blew off, he refused. This morning again, demanding for full payment, then sends nasty messages to me. ..

24 Jan 25, my sliding 3mtr, sliding steel gate track was replaced at a cost of R3.5k, 4 hours of manual labour (13h00-17h00). My own welder was unable to do the repairs, as he was busy on another site, & he had an additional 2x customers from different locations waiting on him, so he recommended & referred one of his colleagues within my area to assist me, & he indicated to me the job in question was +-R1.5k,(labour & materials inclusive) contractors have accounts at hardware stores, they given discounts on their purchases) this job was not very labour intensive & would take approximately -+3 hours to complete, which I agreed to, due to the guarantee/workmanship, & he would arrange for his colleague to contact me immediately to do the job, same day, as the sliding gate kept sliding open & closed halfway on its own. Matho Electrical contacted me, informed me, his colleague explained to him the job spec's, he can pass by, take measurements & complete the job before 18h00, same day. Matho Electrical came through took measurements of the existing steel gate track, indicated the track & concrete flooring had to be removed and replaced, he needed to go to the hardware store to purchase all materials, & collect 2x of his workers, that were working on another site, to do the job on my property, immediately, as his friend won't give him customers, in future. On completion, Matho Electrical, requested payment of R3.5k, I was quite shocked & told him, I agreed with my welder to R1.5k, all inclusive. Matho Electrical, refused, this accept offer, indicating he was not aware of this price agreement as my welder never shared this information with him, I eventually paid him R1.5, & told him I would pay the remainder by weekend latest. Later during the evening I tried contacting my own welder, he was unreachable his cell went to voicemail..I eventually asked Matho Electrical to give me a breakdown of materials used & labour costs per day, of job done on my property. Matho Electrical, breakdown costs on whatsup chat: Materials steel costs: R1200, Concrete mix R250.00 per bag. Welding accessories, no mention of what accessories or prices, no mention of steel cutting discs. Labour costs: manpower: 3x men removing old concrete, they dug & removed 6 foot concrete flooring, alot of welding was done on the new gate track & labour on this job is equivalent to an 8 hour job. I asked for a copy of the supplier invoice, which he refused to share. He indicated R3.5k is the standard going rate for steel gate track replacement, it's 8 hours requiring manpower of 3x men. Next morning we , made direct contact with supplier, their quotation prices to public: Total cost of material: R850.00 including delivery(1x6m steel bar & 1x6m steel pipe, 1x40,kg concrete mix, 1x small steel cutting disc & 1x small box welding rods) Account holders, are given a discount, for all material purchased & delivered. I shared this quote with Matho Electrical, he was extremely unhappy, when he received quote, I asked him where did he use the R250.00 concrete mix, as I only saw 2x40kg bags of concrete mix, 1x 40kg bag concrete mix was used & the other 1x 40kg bag concrete mix was loaded on his vehicle. His team dumped the old concrete rubble into the empty 1 empty 40kg bag, the bag was 1/4% full, an estimate of -+7kgs, My neighbours from the area can vouch that there were only 2x men, that worked on the outside of my property, as the sliding gate was wide open, revealing the entrance to my property. 26 Jan, 14h30, Matho Electrical, threated to remove the steel gate track rack & dig out the concrete flooring & refund my R1.5k, I gave him, the go ahead, informing him to make sure, when he done with his demolition, he should leave the steel gate track & concrete flooring in the same condition, when he inspected it, he said he will not be liable or accountable, for any damages, he can cause to my property, as he wants the outstanding balance, we paid another R500.00.
