Dear Mr & Mrs Bosman 20th December 2024 With reference to the sharing of your concerns on Hello Peter. Our company has been built on a solid foundation of years of service excellence, guided by a commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Over the years, we have honed our expertise and deepened our relationships, consistently delivering solutions that meet and exceed our clients' expectations. This legacy of excellence is not only reflected in the results we achieve but also in the trust and loyalty of those we continue to serve. We sincerely regret that your experience with our company did not meet your expectations. At McCarthy Auto Trimmers, our top priority is ensuring the satisfaction of our clients, and we take any feedback seriously. While we understand your frustration, we want to assure you that we are committed to resolving the issue at no additional cost to you. Upon further review of the situation regarding the repairs needed for your vehicle, we initially committed to covering the full cost of repairs at an external company. We believe it is within our rights to request the opportunity to handle these repairs ourselves, at our own cost, before involving third-party services. This approach allows us to ensure the quality and efficiency of the work while maintaining a direct line of accountability to you. We therefore request that you: • forward us the opportunity to assess and rec fy any poten al work iden fy as being below our standards. • You remove and apologise for the post on Hello Peter and Google reviews within the next 48 hours. With reference to the matter of engaging one of our employees to perform private work. You requested additional work from our staff member and paid him cash to perform this without having it added to your invoice whilst the rest was paid separately. The additional work was conducted at our expense and caused damages to our company Engaging in ********* practices you encourage *******ion and unbecoming conduct by offering personal payment to one of our employees for private work that should rightfully fall within the company’s scope of services. Such actions bypass standard invoicing and accountability processes, undermining organizational integrity and fairness. By incentivizing an employee to prioritize personal gain over professional responsibility, we also believed this compromised the employee’s ethical and work standards and contributed to the poor workmanship that occurred. In light of the above we have sought legal advice, and your behaviour could potentially have contravened the following acts: o Prevention and Combating of ******* Activities Act 12 of 2004 o Prevention of Organised Crime Act 121 of 1998 (POCA) o General Laws (Anti-Money Laundering) Your allegations regarding our employment relationship and management of our employees requires clarity as you clearly do not understand the nature of our industry and it’s important to clarify that the employer adheres fully to the standards set by the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO). These standards are specifically designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees within the motor industry. The employer complies with all relevant regulations, including those governing wages, working hours, and employment benefits. Any perception to the contrary may stem from a misunderstanding of the applicable policies. We trust that you will allow us the opportunity to make things right, as we are confident that these measures will restore your confidence in our services. It should be noted that all rights and remedies at law and at equity are hereby reserved regarding this correspondence. Regards

Don't make the same mistake. The boss **** to me. They promised to refund me and to pay for the damages they were responsible for to my vehicle. McCarthy Auto Trimmers were supposed to fix the headliner but in the process broke the sun visor and caused all of my interior roof lights to fail including leaving the side airbag panels very loose. Also, they didn't do the headliner properly and it will likely need to be redone sometime soon. The boss then phoned me and promised to refund me and also to pay for the damages. Because the headliner was bubbling at the back after 24 hours despite not being touched. Which clearly means the headliner wasn't properly fixed. The day after the boss promised to refund and cover the damages, he refused to give me a refund. He decided to just change his mind. Despite knowing that my wife is pregnant, and we are in the middle of a holiday, and she's expecting any day now. He was completely unprofessional, arguing with me back and forth, refusing to accept the fact that I don't want to rely on them anymore. If you lie to me by omission, not telling me that you damaged my car in the process of fixing something, and then superglue things together, thinking that you don't need to tell me because you fixed it, that's not acceptable. Why will I rely on people to fix it if they **** to me once before? The boss then goes on an endless diatribe, ranting about how it's his worker's fault, telling me stuff that's none of my business, despite me telling him I have to go because my wife needs to see the doctor for her appointment. He just carries on, has no etiquette, goes back on his word, lies, and from the sound of it, he is the one who treats his workers like garbage. It raises the question, does he even have liability insurance or is he docking damages from the pay of his workers? Are they on his payroll or is he contracting them out and treating them like garbage whenever mistakes are made? Either way, this so-called boss is the most unprofessional person I've ever come across in the industry and takes no accountability but blames his staff. Lies to me that he will refund me, and leaves me no recourse if I don't agree to give them a chance to fix it except having to claim damages against him. We already agreed over the phone he would refund me and pay the damages but then he thinks he is unilaterally entitled to go back on his word because I'm supposed to give him a chance to fix it. In my opinion, if you want a horrible experience of being pressured to pay for things off invoice, and being a customer dragged in the middle of pay disputes that shouldn't be your problem, and also being **** to by the boss himself, then by all means rely on McCarthy's Auto Trimmers. I will be claiming all damages from them, for the visor, the interior roof lights, and whatever else may have been caused to the airbags, and will be relying on certified professionals to replace and repair. The people they outsource seem like really nice people, they are capable, but because of bad management from the top down, things that shouldn't be the customer's problem become the customer's problem, and then some. I hope the people who work for this company report him to the Labor Inspector, and that other customers who experience similar will enforce their rights under the Consumer Protection Act. Instead of being professional he takes his frustration out on me—the customer—and his workers, and created unnecessary contentions and inflamed the relationship between myself and the disgruntled people he fired. He clearly doesn't have the sensibilities to be a good boss. There's more to say but I simply don't have the time. Don't make the mistake I made.

Auto and General approved 4 claims. However this not very reputable company is refusing to polish the entire vehicle and just the side they have repaired. Now I drive a Brand new 2023 VCross However Mccarthy seems to think it's normal to polish one side of a new vehicle leaving the front fender and back bin lining unpolished. This insurance claim is more like a money making scheme as an additional fee of +- 2k is required to polish the undamaged area. To top of my frustration I health with a lady at the durban branch telephonically and was absolutely disgusted with the way she handled the call. Now I am fully aware times are changing and so is everything in this country but what happened to customer first? We seem to be obligated to this level of service.

I own an absolute future classic: a 1992 E34 BMW M5. Over the past two years, I've poured a considerable amount of money, time and effort into building up this car. It's a passion project of mine. When it came time to address the interior, I made the decision not to cut corners. Instead, I opted for the expensive yet presumably reputable car trimmer known as McCarthy’s Trimmers in Maitland, Cape Town. Below is my first official review on HelloPeter. I'm sharing this purely to warn and protect potential future customers from what I experienced with this company. Initial Quote Discrepancy: Eshan verbally quoted R22,500.00 to re-upholster the interior (Only the Seats) Once the combined quote was emailed, I noticed that the quote had changed to R28,000.00 leading me to believe I was being hustled. I questioned Eshan about this and he told me that it was Tania Haris that insisted on the higher amount. They reluctantly reduced the quote back to the amount I was promised. Door Insert Quote: During the quotation process I indicated that I would like to have the full door panels retrimmed. I was quoted a price, and accepted the quote. Upon my initial arrival to pick up the car, I noticed only a portion of the door was re-trimmed. Upon questioning this, Eshan told me that they are able to do the rest of the door panels but it would cost me an additional R2600,00 per door. Fortunately the owner Tyron was standing close by listening to this absolute nonsense and stepped in to tell me they will handle it. I was forced to take an Uber back to my home town approximately 150 kms away, costing me time and money. Switches not plugged in upon job completion: Upon my first pick up attempt (After being told that the car was ready for collection) I questioned why the door panels were not fitted properly, and had to listen to Eshan blaming someone else. The leather inserts were loose and I merely walked away telling them to sort it out. Center Console Workmanship: Head Unit Leather bulging around the console Tania Haris claims inadequate shaved leather was ordered, leading to material being squashed in hopes of avoiding notice Indicates poor workmanship and lack of quality control Middle centre leather trim: The Stitching was extremely poor, and noticeably skew. The hazard light switch could not even fit into the poorly trimmed cavity, and was sticking out. There was clearly not one person even checking if the work had been done properly. Car Unwashed and very dirty Eshan claims they recently washed the car, but it was clear as day that this was a lie, the car had oily stains on top of the paint work everywhere. I don't think Eshan has any control of the lies that come out of his mouth. Tanie stepped in and claimed that they were unable to wash it due to the battery being dead. This was one of countless contradictions by the obviously incapable management of Mccarthy’s Trimmers. (The Battery problem however was also due to their negligence) Sunroof Seal: Eshan promised that it would be installed without any issues, When I arrived it was still in the boot and I was told that it can’t be installed, due to potential paint work damage. Eshan subsequently claimed that he forgot, admitting that he ****. Battery Running Flat Someone at Mccarthy's left the headlights on, causing the battery to die completely. Brand new battery installed. (Which I paid for) Rear Windows not working I previously brought a car to be trimmed at Mccarthy’s and upon driving away the windows were not working, I was forced to return to them, whereupon they realised that they never plugged the windows back in. (Very Poor Quality control) This time the exact same problem occurred where I would once again be **** to by Eshan that the rear windows did not work when I brought the car in. They merely forgot to plug the windows back in again. Tires flat upon pickup (This was the 3rd time I had come to pickup the car when told that it was ready) The car has 4 brand new tyres and rims and both Eshan and Tania knew I was again on my way to pick up the car. (Very far to drive to be disappointed again) When I arrived the tires were flat, and Eshan claimed that he personally pumps the tires every 2 to 3 days. This guy is an impulsive ****. I think he believes Mccarthy’s customers to be total *****s, and he might be right because only a ***** would entrust them with a collectors item like this. Roof Lining. As quoted and accepted, the roof lining needed to be replaced. This was done poorly with a multitude of excuses Upon washing the car, the water streamed in and damaged the new roof lining. Tania claimed that this was due to the drainage pipes being clogged. Eshan however claimed that it was due to the car being washed on an angle, and that the drip tray overflowed. He also then tells me that the drainage pipes were fine. Upon confronting Tania about this, she then tells me that Eshan is lying. Front Driver seat cables Upon initial quote, I mentioned to Eshan that the front driver seat adjuster cables need to be checked as I think they might have come loose. He told me that it was not a problem and it would be a simple matter. Upon 2nd pickup I noticed that nothing had been done. I was told by Eshan that it was in fact the motors that were broken, and that their supplier was not able to source these motors. The truth however is that they never even tried to fix the problem. I was able to source the motors in 1 telephone call and arranged that Mccarthys get hold of them, Upon installation they told me the motors were actually fine and it was in fact the cables. Finally leaving Mccarthy’s with my Car Driving back to my hometown, nervous that my car would fall apart, I went around a corner at the refuelling station and the entire seat lifted from its brackets. They never inserted the bolts to secure the front driver seat potentially causing a massive accident. I mention again the absolute lack of quality control and due diligence. Upon my second attempt to pick the car up at McCarthy's and with my frustration showing, Tania, Eshan and myself sat in a boardroom, where they exclaimed their regret, and Eshan admitted to his lies, claiming that the owner, Tyron, insists on customer satisfaction. This contrition was clearly short lived, as is noticeable in my experience above. This company's management is abysmal, coasting solely on its previous reputation. Numerous other businesses in the Western Cape are eager to exceed customer expectations, a feat that McCarthy's fails to achieve even marginally. Their treatment of clients is insulting, and I strongly recommend avoiding them. I would advise a serious revamp of the company, however all I heard was the owner telling me that he is not involved with the management of his own company. This once esteemed and humble Mccarthy’s Trimmers has lost its way with no promising future ahead. A quick Google search will spare you significant stress, time and financial loss.

I handed them my Polo car's door panels which was in a terrible state. I have to commend their exeptional workmanship as the panels now look as good as new. Find them at 1 Henry Ford Rd, Ferguson, Port Elizabeth. 041 451 2183

I bought a new generation Ford Raptor and had the interior re-done. The experience on all levels was brilliant. On arrival the consultant was ready and prepared and advised professionally and to the point. I was continuously kept informed of the progress and en-route they added the door panels which was not quoted at no additional cost. The end product exceeded my expectation and the service was delivered with an obvious client centric approach. I will definitely utilize their services in future again.
