3 years ago we took ownership of a newly house built by Montagu Property Group in the Eye of Africa golf estate. We are now spending over R140,000.00 repairing the walls, damp and cracks where (to probably cuts costs) inferior materials were used. The tops of all pa****t walls need to be waterproofed and all aluminium windows and door frames re-sealed. The exterior walls need to be repaired and repainted as they're peeling and the plaster is cracking. The bathrooms are full of damp and mould and the roof needs waterproofing. Sounds like this house is 30 years old instead of 3. Montagu has absolved itself of any responsibility even though all 3 quotes we got said "inferior workmanship and materials". We didn't report the defects within the stipulated time period (45 days of taking ownership) and therefore we are responsible for the defects. To give them some credit, they did remove building rubble we found in one of the blocked pipes after the 45 days. Btw they no longer build in "The Eye".
