A few Fridays ago, my sister and I were treated to a night at a hotel at the beach. And I would like to thank the staff at Protea Hotel Cape Town Sea Point and Spur Seven for making our stay very pleasant. However, our experience was marred by a visit to Monty’s Burger Bar in Mojo Market. We had decided not to have dinner at the Spur as that’s a restaurant we often visit, and we wanted to try a new place. So, we went to Mojo Market to see what was on offer. After seeing the sample burgers at Monty’s, we decided this was the place to try. We were really excited. It didn’t take too long for them to take our order. But what followed was one of our most disappointing restaurant experiences ever. We waited for over 40 minutes for our food. While we were waiting, another customer complained that she’d ordered her food more than 30 minutes earlier. They then gave her food to her on a plate, and she had to remind them that she’d ordered a take-away. A couple of the servers also weren’t wearing their masks and I had to ask one of them to put his mask on. There was another customer who had also been waiting a while, but when they gave her food, one waiter was holding the plate, and another was placing fries on it. Every time the one wanted to give her plate to her, the other piled on more chips. More than half her plate was piled high with fries. Yet when the eventually gave my sister and me our food, he only put a small portion of fries on our plates. Not only that, but our burgers looked nothing like the samples and the onion rings were anorexic in comparison to the sample. The burger itself was insipid and not even the sauce could improve it. The staff were disorganized and selectively friendly. Yes, it was a Friday night, and they were busy, but they need to have a better system in place and there needs to be consistency in te service that they provide to ALL customers. If my sister and I had gone to the Spur, we would have had familiar food, but at least it would have tasted great, and the experience overall would have been a much better one. IF I could give Monty’s Burger Bar Minus 5 stars, I certainly would. And, sadly, negative experience has put me off visiting Mojo Market anytime soon. And I definitely will not be recommending that burger place to anyone. This is a their sample Confused Burger In front is the version of a Confused Burger that I got, and at the back is my sister’s pathetic pulled pork burger
