Poor service - they broke our furniture and refused to assist with the repair!

We have recently had a really BAD experience with Sachin and his company. We contracted him to move a pool table and a dresser from Jhb to Dargyle Valley and the furniture was extremely badly damaged in transit. It arrived broken and Sachin has refused to come to the party to make 'good' and assist us in paying towards the repairs. The cabinet was broken in four places and was obviously damaged in transit. Sachin blamed it on the 'bad farm road'. The route to the farm is on a tar road, and the 'only off' road section is from the gate to the farm house - less than 1 km! They arrived at 9.30pm on a Tuesday night, after collecting after dark in Jhb the week before. The goods were clearly damaged in transit and we have photos which we sent to Sachin to show the condition of the furniture when it was delivered. Sachin claimed that his insurance was only in the event of an accident in transit and that it was up to us to take out our own insurance. This was never communicated to us. Poor service all round, and it has cost us almost R 4000 to fix the furniture!
