While I adore thrifting, I found that the specific shop at Eikestad Mall is not affordable. I have browsed through this shop multiple times and found that the second-hand clothes sold at My Emporium are sometimes more expensive than newly brought clothes at retailers like Mr Price. Sometimes the garment is in a bad condition and then they will still have a price of +-R150 when it should just be donated for free. Due to the pricing, it seems like the shop is just another money-making scheme that wants to make profit off of supposed "sustainability" - in the name of thrifting. I cannot speak for the other stores in other cities, but the one in Stellenbosch is certainly not affordable to the average South African citizen.
