I paid for a full page advert to be published in the first Gauteng issue for 2019. I received a notice that they are closing down and will refund my money. I am still awaiting the refund after about 10 emails. I don't get any response. I can't find any telephone number that works. I will appreciate if anybody has contact with Northern Hill magazine or Centerpiece publishing to respond to this review.

We paid R12000 for a quality ad in the Northern Hills Magazine which would have been spreaded across Gauteng residential estates. The Nobember issue was cancelled and postponed to first issue in 2019. Never heard from the marketing department again, no confirmation of approved ad, no answering of contact numbers, no email replies. Biggest rip off and SCAM!!!

The company offered an advertising package for our business with the promise that this will reach more then 10 000 households. After we signed up on the deal they just kept quite, we then contact them again and even upgrade the adverti*****t. This has been since 08/08/2018 and again 25/09/2018, the promised online advertising as well as a printable advi*****t. in the JHB area. Up until now we have been phoning and sending emails, without any response from them. The contact persons we have are as follow Marko Gibbs - ********** Emails **********

Saturday afternoon I had a delightful surprise to find a magazine called Northern Hills in my post-box. We have been residents in Sandton for the past 8 years, and I have never received or even seen this publication. After visiting their website, I learned that it’s a new free magazine in the area. When you imagine free magazine, you immediately think poor quality with a flood of adverts with no quality reads, but surprisingly this magazine offer quality and great articles, touching on a variety of subjects. I would like to thank the publishers for taking the initiative in launching such a great magazine, and I look forward to the next issue. Well done!

We have recently moved to Durbanville and last week I had a delightful surprise, I found a 5 star magazine called Northern Hills in my post box. It is full of great articles, from must have’s, how to’s, great featured articles and must know décor trends. It’s a really great product and can definitely compete with any top magazine, and the best of all is – it’s absolutely free. Thank you for a great magazine, and will definitely come in handy during this festive season Sunelle De Villiers / Durbanville

Oh, I love the Northern Hills Magazine especially for adding a quality and great magazine to the otherwise dull and cheap free magazine catalogue available in the Northern Suburbs (boerewors curtain) . It always amaze me on the list of quality articles that each issue holds. I still have all my issues, and especially find your pet care section helpful, taking into account I am a big dog lover.

Your financial section could be preachy at times, but you do a fair job at providing valuable and useful information. I love the fact that your magazine are promoting local businesses and I make it my obligation to support them, and in my small way contribute to community building.

Thank you Northern Hills, you guys deliver a wonderful product, and I look forward to your upcoming issue.

Community builder Welgedacht

Dear Northern Hills Magazine

I received my Northern Hills Summer Issue 2016 in my post-box last week, and I want to congratulate your magazine on an excellent issue. Its scares if not impossible to find a magazine with such quality and quality articles given for free to readers, and not to mention the magazine really have content for every member of the family. We have been residents in Welgemoed for the past 20 years, and have seen the magazine grow and developed into a magazine that offers readers like myself , plenty to read.

Once again I would like to thank the entire Northern Hills Magazine team for doing an outstanding job and thank you for giving me something to look forward too every quarter .

Happy Welgemoed

Adele vd Merwe

Stefan Kemp, the owner came to me with a 3 issue offer to advertise my company in his Northern Hills Magazine, which gets delivered to affluent estates in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. The R15 000 offer, of which I paid upfront for the first 2 issues and the balance a bit later was supposed to be distributed in August, October and December 2016.

The offer rested on the premise that we would get an exclusive spot on the front page and a full page add in first edition and a half page add per issue in two remaining issues of the magazine, which would all have been distributed by 4 December 2016.

We were sent a Mock-up of the front-page for the first issue and promised exclusivity and that we would be sharing the front page with only four other advertisers.

When we finally received the magazine we discovered that our “EXCLUSIVE DEAL” was sold to 16 companies and not just the 5 as they initially pitched to us. We ended up sharing the front page with the majority of the advertisers that were in the book and our logo was barely noticeable on the front cover between all of them.

I made contact with Stefan to voice my disappointment, he was quick to try and convince me that it was still a good deal and that everyone else was happy with it. He went on to offer me full page adds instead of half page ads for the two remaining issues. He confirmed this offer in writing, as I requested, and clearly stated that the remaining two issues would be distributed on 28 October 2016 and 4 December 2016.

To cut a long story short, after struggling to get hold of him for 3 weeks, it appears that the October issue was never printed or distributed.

When I queried this, he told me that his clients requested this as October and December were too close to each other for two issues. He claimed that all clients were made aware of this and that it was Candice’s (his secretary/ sales rep) fault that I was not informed.

I telephonically requested a pro-rata refund for the two remaining issues to which he agreed and requested that a send my request in writing, which I did.

He ended up replying with a bunch of excuses and a ridiculous offer to refund about a 1/3 of the remaining contract value, he also claimed that they designed my add for free, which was somehow worked into the costing. They never designed my add, I had it done by a 3rd Party, and have the invoice to prove it.

Please be cautious and as the saying go’s….. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Regards

Mr Gullible
