What a disaster. Never again. We organised for assistance with our three older Boston Terriers before taking them for their annual vaccinations. After waiting approximately 25 minutes, someone eventually came to assist my wife. Unfortunately, the staff member did not keep the leash secure, which resulted in one of our dogs getting loose and attacking another dog in the waiting area. Following this, my wife was taken into a consulting room where she waited another 25 minutes for the vet to bring the injections. There was no apology for the delay or the earlier incident. The only comment made was: “We’ve seen worse than this.” The only logical explanation is that the practice is severely overbooked and the staff are stretched too thin to manage the number of animals being brought in. That is genuinely disappointing, especially considering the many positive reviews online. I have no doubt that the veterinarians themselves are competent, but the practice appears to be managed in a way that prioritises volume over proper care and attention. When you take pets to a veterinary practice, you expect professionalism, proper handling of animals, and at the very least basic courtesy when things go wrong. Unfortunately, none of those expectations were met during this visit.

I write this with a heavy heart, as I’ve always been a strong advocate for your practice. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. On the 30th, I brought May in because she was clearly unwell. Despite multiple tests and consultations, no one could provide a diagnosis or even a clear direction. This week, I was advised to proceed with an invasive procedure involving a camera down her throat. I nearly agreed—until I sought a second opinion. To my absolute shock, the other vet diagnosed her immediately: Kennel Cough. I cannot understand how this was missed, especially after I shared videos of her symptoms. This is a common condition that should have been identified early on. Instead, I spent a significant amount of money and endured days of uncer*****y, while May continued to suffer. I am extremely upset. This experience has shaken my trust, and I feel let down by a team I once wholeheartedly supported.

We took our beautiful Great Dane in to be spayed. We collected her late that afternoon. When she got home she was cold and disorientated. We called Panorama vet and they said it was normal after general anesthetic. The next morning she couldn't stand up, her heart was racing and she was still cold. We had to carry her on a blanket to the car and rushed her back to Panorama vet. The Vet checked her out and said that she was bleeding internally and that they would have to operate again. Before they would do this a letter of consent was presented to us stating that the operation to fix their mistake would cost a minimum of R10 000 to R12 000. If we didn't sign it they wouldn't operate. So we were forced to to try and save our beloved pet. We left the vet and about 30 minutes later they called to say her heart had stopped and they were trying to resuscitation. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful and we lost our beautiful healthy Oreo. Needless to say we are devastated. In my opinion Panorama vet is just a money making practice. I feel sorry for the Vets and staff as they were clearly embarrassed when asking us to sign the consent form. I'm not going to leave it here and hope that they respond.

This review is more for Equine-Librium, a Veterinary Physiothe****** clinic that was referred to me by the Panorama specialist centre. The doctors, nurses and staff at Panorama were excellent in the handling of my dog Romy who had cruciate surgery on her left hind leg. But Romy's recovery has been remarkable, mostly due to the great treatment by physiothe******, Monica Esterhuizen at Equine-Librium Veterinary Physiothe******s (next door to Panorama Veterinary Clinic and Specialist Centre). Her understanding of a dog's anatomy, her gentle approach to handling Romy, and her astute knowledge of how to nurse the strength and muscle back into Romy's leg, has been admirable. Her climbing into the Hyrdo-therapy tank with Romy was an amazing thing to watch. I highly recommend these services: Panorama Veterinary Clinic & Specialist Centre, and Equine-Librium Clinic in Cape Town.

If I have one regret in life it is taking my bulldog, Higgins, to Dr. Michael (first name) at Panorama for an airway operation in January 2023. Prior to the operation, Higgins used to go for 45 minute to 1 hour nature trail walks every day. Now, 5 months later, he is confined to walking 10 minutes at most at a time, and even then, he comes away limping. The lameness only temporarily subsides if I spend 15 minutes at least a couple of times a day icing him. Since the operation that led to his SEVERE limp, Higgins has been to Acuvet (Dr Barry - first name), TAH Belleville (Dr Ian - first name) and Vetscape (Dr Charlie - first name). They all concluded that it was an injury. Dr. Barry had treated Higgins with his laser machine (for arthritis) a mere *2 days* before the airway operation at Panorama and he was happy with the way Higgins was moving. Said we didn't need to see each other for another 5 weeks. Dr. Ian (head of surgery) took x-rays and did an ultrasound and manipulation. He stated that he suspected a "tear of / damage to the medial joint capsule and the medial glenohumeral ligaments." Dr. Charlie filled in the insurance form as an accident after seeing videos of Higgins on his nature walk merely 2 days prior to the operation and then seeing him the night he got back home. Dr. Charlie had also conducted a full assessment on Higgins. On the other hand, when I confronted Dr. Michael and tried to hold him/his veterinary practice accountable and I warned him that I would be reporting him to Vet Council, he clearly had his lawyers write me a letter. I quote his email to me: "I would have liked to help. However, your spurious allegations sadden me as they are patently and intentionally fallacious, inflammatory, unfair on me and my dedicated staff, and not helpful for Higgins." Warning to anyone who tries to hold this vet accountable. He takes responsibility for nothing! You trust this vet with your loved ones at your own risk. My experience: Panorama really doesn't care about your beloved pet. I should have turned and walked out the door when I saw with my very own eyes during the consultation, Dr. Michael pull Higgins towards him by the front leg. Huh? Which vet pulls a bulldog (or any dog) towards them by the leg? I then warned him to be careful with his shoulder. Didn't matter. Gone on deaf ears. A suspected torn shoulder joint while being admitted for a frigging airway operation at Panorama, after he was told to be careful? How??? This young dog (2.5 years old now) has endured so much pain, so many rounds of sedation, anaesthetic, manipulation, injections, catheters, anti-inflammatory meds, icing, Arnica ice gel, change of dog food to get more Omegas, allergic reactions, itchy paws, eczema...because someone at Panorama (ahem, looking at you Dr. Michael) didn't listen to me during the consultation. Worse still, he is bored out of his mind because the life he used to have was taken away from him by someone I entrusted him to. This weekend, I had to keep him at home all weekend. I had to keep him stimulated by giving him treats that he had to apply his mind to. He has put on 2 kgs and lost muscle mass because of his lack of movement these days. This only exacerbates the effect of the injury. Higgins will NEVER be the same again. Neither will we while Higgins is in our care. We can barely get out of the house. I had to cancel a planned overseas holiday that we booked in October last year (and pay a penalty) because no-one will be able to take care of him and watch him and monitor his pain levels and know when he needs to have a rest day. I've spent at least 3 times the cost of the airway operation (and counting) just to try and rehabilitate Higgins after the damage he has suffered. The extent of his shoulder injury is mind boggling. Panorama doesn't listen, doesn't appear to care and worse still, doesn't care that you know Panorama doesn't care.

If I have one regret in life it is taking my bulldog, Higgins, to Michael Gray at Panorama for an airway operation in January 2023. They all concluded that it was an injury Dr. Hindmarch had treated Higgins with his laser machine (for con******* arthritis) a mere *2 days* before the airway operation at Panorama and he was happy with the way Higgins was moving. I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the recent visit to your Panorama veterinary clinic, specifically regarding the treatment of my dog, Mila. As a loyal customer who trusts your clinic with my beloved pets, I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and care displayed during my visit. Upon arrival at approximately 13:40, I informed the reception team that Mila, a Chinese Sharpei, was experiencing symptoms of GDV, also known as bloat. Although we were advised to bring Mila in, we were placed in consultation room 6 where we waited for two hours without any consultation or examination from a doctor. As Mila's discomfort persisted, I approached the reception team again and was told that the only way to diagnose the issue was through an x-ray. However, before the x-ray, a nurse named Lee attempted to take Mila from me, despite my concerns about her anxiety. Lee suggested a muzzle and, during the process of putting it on, made a rude comment when I asked about the approximate duration of the x-ray. This was unacceptable and unprofessional behavior from a member of your team. The staff member's name was Lee and she burst out : "Do you want me to help your dog or not" . I was absolutely stunned that a nurse at such a 'prestigious' vet can speak to a client/patient in this way. I let her know that I only asked to know how long I will be away from my pup and that I did not appreciate the way she was speaking to me- infront of everyone in the hospital. She kept quiet and then she said to follow her - I was so distraught and in shock that I did follow her because I just wanted my pup better than anything else and didnt even realise that still no had had asked me what her symptoms were- consulted us or anything. When we were in the small entry way as you enter the radiology room she went on , and I quote: "Can't you see I'm moving everything and everyone around to accommodate you- I had to pull people out of their lunch breaks for this". I am really at a loss for words when it comes to my vet visit yesterday- never will I ever reccomend anyone to go to this hospital- infact I will go out of my way to tell people to avoid this place. I cringe when I think of all the fragile little pets need to go through that hands, honestly. Imagine paying for "proffessionals" to look at your pet and a staff member mentions that you are a burden and she was inconvenienced by helping you. Furthermore, it was concerning that no one had asked me about Mila's symptoms before suggesting an x-ray. There had been no consultation or examination of Mila before the x-ray. The lack of communication and consultation was alarming, and I felt my concerns were not being taken seriously. When the doctor finally came to teh room her initial comment that "It's not a bloat" made it seem as if no further action was needed, which was confusing and concerning. Throughout the entire experience, I felt that the professionalism and competence I had previously associated with your clinic were absent. I did not receive the care or attention that my pet deserved, and it was disappointing to see such unprofessional behavior from a member of your team. In light of this experience, I demand corrective action be taken, including an investigation into the conduct of your staff, a refund for the consultation and x-ray, and an apology for the poor treatment of Mila and me. I hope that this letter will encourage you to take appropriate steps to ensure that this kind of unacceptable behavior is not repeated in the future.
