This is about Mr Charles Owen. Mr Owen caused my claim to prescribe and caused irreparable damage to my medical negligence case. An absolute nightmare to deal with. ZERO compassion and ZERO people skills. I remember saying to Mr Owen on the first day we met for a consultation that I wish I had made a recording of the consultations with the doctor I was intending to litigate against, since it would make everything so much easier! I now wish I had made a recording of THIS consultation. All the stereotypes about lawyers you see in TV series and Hollywood films apply. No attempt has been made to apologise to me or make amends. From De Rebus, Aug 1, 2019 (http://www.derebus.org.za/client-expectations-and-the-professional-duties-of-a-legal-practitioner/): "All the consultations and discussions with the client must be recorded in detailed contemporaneous file notes and correspondence must be sent to the client confirming the content of the discussions. While the underlying reasons for the prescription or under settlement of the personal injury claims (not just RAF claims) vary, there are a number of points to be noted by legal practitioners in handling such claims in order to properly manage the expectations of the client. These includethe prescription date and the implications of a claim prescribing" Prescription date was never mentioned to me. Claim prescribed in July 2014. First time I ever heard of the concept of prescription was in 2015, after the claim had already prescribed. I heard about it from another attorney that I consulted with, who advised me that the ship had already sailed and that DSC should have informed me of the prescription date. DSC should provide documentation of the alleged occasion on which I was informed of the prescription date.
Maybe if I post here someone will phone me? Boiling with rage at the quality of service
I requested the contents of my file from Simpsons Attorneys through the proper channels and in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act via registered letter which was successfully delivered. The request was completely ignored, initially. Upon phoning to confirm receipt of this request, the representative on the phone did not know how the procedure works and asked me to explain what exactly I want. In terms of PAIA, this constitutes an outright refusal of access to the information, which appears very suspicious, all things considered... ORIGINAL REVIEW: This firm wasted seven months of my life. I had to wait this long for them to inform me that they are not interested in helping me further with my medical negligence case, which is based on lack of informed consent. I was not privy to any of the discussions on which this decision was based, despite stating expressly at our first consultation that I would like to stay fully informed at every step of the process. Despite being assured, at a meeting with an Advocate of the High Court, that I would be referred to a medical expert to obtain a medicolegal report, I waited five months for this to happen (ultimately it never did). In this time period, three phone messages left at reception went unanswered. On all three of these occasions, I was assured that I would be phoned "first thing tomorrow morning". In this same period, at least three emails requesting an update on the situation were ignored. Don't believe the social media hashtags and "attorneyswithheart" smokescreens - these are ambulance chasers with one motivating factor: MONEY, and not a sense of justice. My personal advice is to record every single conversation you have with any attorney (even ones who are on your side).
Note: this review applies to the individuals directly involved with my case. Unfortunately, the good name of the firm gets dragged down into the muck and mire by the ill-advised actions of a select few. It speaks volumes that the person (Charles Owen) who was in charge of my case no longer works here. Mr Owen caused my claim to prescribe and caused irreparable damage to my medical negligence case. An absolute nightmare to deal with. ZERO compassion and ZERO people s****s. No attempt has been made to apologise to me or to make amends, and I am left picking up the pieces. I welcome the opportunity to debate this matter with any representative of DSC Attorneys in a public forum.

I assert that the following statements serve the interest of the wider public, and I further assert that all statements are verifiably true. These statements refelct only my personal experiences.

This doctor performed a surgical procedure on me without informing me of the potential long-term complications and severe side effects which may occur. I returned after the operation and started mentioning that I was now experiencing severe side effects and complications, and from that moment onwards I have been treated like a leper.

The doctor's receptionist (who is also his wife) refused to allow me to speak to him. She also threatened to "take me to court" for complaining about my treatment.

The doctor phoned my father to try and get me to stop complaining. I was 25 years old at the time and this was most certainly highly inappropriate on the doctor's part.

The doctor told me that he had been discussing my complications and my grievances with all the other doctors that I had been seeing privately in the previous months.

The doctor neglected to return my phone calls or honour pre-arranged meetings on three seperate occassions.

The doctor's wife threatened to throw me out of the practice since the it "also belongs to [her]".

The doctor failed to conduct a physical examination on me on two separate occassions.
