Christine de Villiers took my dad's money and kept promising that he'll receive his furniture. It's been 2 months and no furniture and no refund. She doesn't answer her phone and doesn't reply to emails. Taking money from people and not delivering what you promised is nothing else but thievery.

Insurance Policy: 256/706/ ********** 9466

During May 2015 a woman caused a chain accident of which I was the car in front. During June 2015 a young man reversed into my car while he was inebriated.

Seeing as I don't have an insurance broker and seeing as I didn't have the money available to pay the excess, I tried handling the fender benders myself and by not putting in claims in order that I can get the guilty parties to pay for the repairs.

At the time I was working more than one job and couldn't carry on with the seemingly endless phone calls and emails between their insurance companies and mine. I was also in a situation where the young man from the second event turned around and said I caused the accident by also reversing which is a lie but I don't have any physical evidence as there was only a car guard at the scene. The biggest mistake I made that night was NOT calling the police as I should've but I felt sorry for him as he was going overseas and having a DUI would've prohibited him from doing so.

Long story short someone told me that Santam's legal department would handle the figthing for money for repairs on my behalf. I called Santam's call centre and the person told me that that was indeed true, I just needed to put in claims for the accidents and Santam would handle the rest. So after that phone call, I went ahead and put in the claims.

After following up for the umpteenth time I was then told that no, Santam would only handle things on my behalf AFTER I repair my vehicle and then they would try to get my money back but they couldn't guarantee that. I pleaded with Santam saying that it just wasn't possible as I didn't have money to pay the excess.

All in all I sent over 30 emails, made numerous phone calls, have been handed off between Santam personnel and have cried a lot of tears over the past 2 years. Then I was recently informed by a broker that insurance companies are supposed to give clients the option of paying out the cash for repairs minus the excess payment so that repairs can be done. I would just need to supply evidence that the repairs have been done.

I have been driving with a beat-up bakkie because I haven't been able to afford the excess/repairs. I just want the cash to fix it up so that it looks the way it used to. I am a careful driver and haven't had any claims save for a new windscreen over the past years so why isn't Santam helping me?

Regards

Liané
