I had one of worst shopping experiences at Pick & Pay Cradlestone Mall. This is not the first time this happened. There are no cashiers at the Express Tills for less than 10 items. This results in queues that stretch into the shopping isles. I asked to speak to the manager, when I questioned as to the lack of personnel at the Express tills the person they referred me too replied they do not have enough staff members to do so. I and one lady I am aware returned the few good to she shelves and left the store. I could not afford to spend 30 minutes or more waiting to be assited.
Cradlestone Mall is a very consumer friendly mall. The layout of the mall is spacious and allows for the free flow of shoppers even in peak periods. The other big plus of Cradlestone Mall is the ample parking both open air and covered. This is further enhanced by the ample size of the parking bays that allow for large vehicles, such as Bakkies and 4 x 4 and Vans to park leaving space to open the doors. Overall the shopping experience at Cradlestone Mall is stress free.
I am extremely dissapointed in the manner which VHI goes about dealing with their customers. I cancelled my membership at and exorbitant rate of over ten thousand rand. They confirmed that the this was in full and final settlement of my membership. They then proceeded to deduct a monthly installment from my account. I informed them of the error and requested that they refund the money deducted in error. Sandra a liaison person informed that the debit order were already loaded and hence the deduction. I understood that but asked for the refund to done. I was then told I must go to my bank and ask them to reverse the transaction. The bank was not forthcoming as it is a debit order. I again mailed Sandra and asked that the money be deposited back into mu account. The reply I got is that I must get a letter from my bank confirming that are not willing to reverse the transaction. I have again mailed Sandra of VHI imploring her to make the necessary arrangements to have my money refunded. I told her that the error lay with VHI and not with me as the customer so the onus is on VHI to correct the mistake and refund my money. This whole matter is exacerbated by the fact that can not get hold of them via the telephone to speak to a person of authority. This is extremely frustrating and I find almost laughable that a company operates and treats its customers in this manner where talking directly to someone seems not to be possible. I would advise people to very wary of dealing with a company that operates and treats its customers in this manner. CB Muirhead (VHI 402760 former membership number)
<p>We signed up with VHI after a high pressure sales pitch. There was a lot real pressure to say the least. During the interview we were told that we could cancel at any time if wished. The salesman also very specifically informed us that if anything happened to to us illness etc we would be able to cancel immediately. This put our minds at rest and we signed the contact. To date we have not made use of their services. Further more we are both over the age of 65 which precludes us from going to Taiwan which was on the promotion brochure. This I only found out when wanting to cancel the agreement. My wife passed away rather suddenly and as we are both pensioners but lucky to have some employment I wrote to them asking to cancel the contact. The reason is that I no longer have the addtional income from my wife and it makes it extremely difficult to pick up her expenses and still run the house hold. I have just received a R 81000 hospital bill which I have to pay. I have corresponded with them explaining my predicament but at this stage to no avail. I am still trying to get them to cancel the contract even after sending them proof of the medical bills. All they do is send me a sheet asking for my wife's and my bank statements and they will decide on my affordability I asked them from a humanitarian and to have some empathy for my plight and explaining I will no longer have any use for the product being on my own. It appears to me that there is no way that they will rescind the contact and are less than concerned about my plight. I am now waiting for them to send me cancellation fee. No clue how much at this time. I would not recommend anyone to fall into this type trap where regardless of circumstances the contract is cast in concrete.</p>
