Shocking My dog Benji was vomiting none stop after one Sunday about a month ago yesterday. We decided to take him in to the Vet to find out what was wrong. The Table View "Vet-Clin" had a look at him and said it's a virus so they gave him Anti Boitics and Ant Nausia tablets, they said monitor him and if he gets worse bring him back in..... The very next day he was worse still not eating and had a fever so we thought we shall leave him for another day and see if he gets worse, which he did much worse, he had a fever and was weak so we took him back in. They said they need to test blood and put him on a drip to keep him hydrated. This was all good as we took him in every day for a drip and while this was going on they did every possable test and scan to find out what was wrong, first they said it was liver damage then virus then they decided to check for cancer. This whole prossess took about two weeks and the bill was getting bigger by the day. He got a litter better but still lost weight and struggled to eat, he starterd vomiting green bile and foaming from the mouth. Week 3 we decided to take him back for his check up and they said "his liver is now fine and they think it's a tumur so they can't cut it out so there is nothing they can do, yet this so called tumour had moved down into his colon according to there scans. So we asked can we give him laxatives to help him pass it out , which they said is a good idea. We watched him closely to see if and what he pooed out, which was very small and gooie substance. Week 4 I had enough and we took him in for the last time to find out what the hell is going on, they said and u quote I do not what to operate as I feel it's not serious enough so they recommended us seeing a specialist which costs 5000 to 15000 depending on situation. Keep in mind his bill had raked up to R10 000 so far and only getting worse. Yesterday Sunday the 11th of March 2018 I had enough of this ****. I saw Benji our dog unable to even walk and he started vomiting yellow bile that smelt like poo and looked like dark blood urin, I was freaking out and decided to hit Google, yes u know Google is not always the answer but I found multipal animal sites saying that all his issues that we have experienced is called Bowle Blockadge. This is where a dog ingestes a item like plastic, rocks, bones etc and that it blocks the digestive system and can be fatal if not treated Imedietly! I then decided to get a second opinion from another Vet called Briza Veterinary Clinic today at 7am. The vetanerian Dr had a look at Benji and Imedietly said his bot well, I mentianed about the bowl Blockadge issue which I was sure it was and she felt his stomache and said to my relief that she can feel it. Now comes the part that I lost my ****, they new vet said they are going to open him up and look for whatever it is but because he's so weak him chance of coming out of anastetic was going to be slim bit she will do everything she can and keep the bill low as possible as she said you guys have spent alot of money and time on getting this dog better. We got a call now from this amazing vet and I quote "Dr just phoned she said he is busy waking up now. She found a foreign object which looks like plastic which she kept aside for us to see. She said his blood pressure dropped quite low but they managed to get it back nicely and they there was some bleeding and she did a lot of flushing out coz there was quite a lot of bacteria inside. She said there was also about a 14cm backlog of grass behind the plastic. She said they going to monitor him overnight and will try to start feeding him tonight already. If he does well tonight and tmrw then he can come home late tmrw afternoon but must be monitored closely for the next few days. She said she will try to keep the bill below 8000 if he doesn't stay over again tmrw night. We currently owe then 7000 and something which must be paid before he comes home tmrw. So far so good, but she said we will know for sure if he's out of the woods in the next 4 days" Now my boy is in recovary and we hope he makes a strong recovery, but the Dr said he will have complications as the object would have caused damage and his acid would have damaged his body , so this is going to be a rough couple of months but his family and a creature of god. I need to take this further as this vet has no idea what they are doing and messing with a life , also sucking you dry of you money and then moving you on to the next person which they recommend and probably get a cut to. A vet is a place to evaluate and take action to save a life not a place to capitalize and give you false hope and destroy..... I will be sharing this on social media and they have the nerve to say they will not share his files as we owe them R1200 still. I feel the 10 000 we spent if not more was a complete waist of money and time more importantly they almost let my boy die.
