On recommendation of the importer of the insulation material to address leaking roofs, I sought quote from Rosebank Sandton Roofing alias RS Roofing. They quoted coating above or below steel tiles with 5 year warranty either way. I accepted the latter although more expensive because repairs would be concealed. Paid the first half of the R75,000 quoted and they proceeded. Before paying the remaining portion I queried the one side of the roof and was assured it had been done. They sent photos. I paid and at the first storm the one bad leak again presented itself. For a year of trying to get them to respond I referred the matter to an attorney. A meeting was held at my home and RS Roofing conceded that they never did the one side of the roof, now they want more money as they now allege they underquoted. I will now seek an alternative contractor to execute the work as paid for and have instructed attorney to proceed against RS Roofing to recover those costs along with my legal costs. As the customer in my 60's, I shouldn't have to climb into the roof to check that the work has been done. This contractor proves that because the work was out of easy sight, they could evade detection and consequences thereafter.
