It's so sad to hear about people not getting the service they want from contractors. I am in the tiling business now for 20 years and understand why it's so difficult to pick up work, spending times with owner to work out what they want done to their property's.You spend hours quoting,talking and at the end come.to the agreement on work.to be carried out. It's up to the the owner end of the day who they want to use for the work to be done, maybe to get it also done a cheaper way ( so they at fault as well, have been there ) Some contractors are cutting cost and using cheap Labour, that's where the poor workmanship comes in ( where I tell them that workmanship guaranty will fall away ), As well as clients, they themself like to buy cheap material and expect everything to go well. My belive is : what you pay, iswhat you get If as a owner, you can spend 1000's of rand on other things, why can't you be fair. End of the day we all want to be happy and carry on with our life. So don't always blame the contractor or worker, a good understanding on the beginning is the best.
