One of their attorneys was the attorney managing my rental property alongside the trustees of the property. They were supposed to give me a lease, but the only lease I got said that my property had a pool (it didn't), and it also didn't take into account the reality of the property. For instance if I signed the lease, I could've been liable for hundreds of thousands of rands in repairs and renovations, as there was no inspection and as such no annexure noting the many issues with the property that is in an old building with a built-in kitchen from the fifties and a bathroom from the eighties with broken tiles and fixtures held together by zip ties. I noted my concerns on the PDF, sent it back, asked for an amended lease, and suggested a meeting. Despite following up, that never happened. They were hard to get hold of, my emails often went without reply, or when I did get a reply, it did not give me the information I asked for. Eventually, I was informed by one of the trustees of my property that my place will be going on the market, and I will have a 30-day notice, as I have no lease. I asked for a legal document that at least confirms that my deposit will be paid back and all the details around that, which is fair to both parties. Again, that did not happen. When I complained about their behaviour, they sent me an email full of false accusations. I refuted each one with evidence and received no reply. I never got the legal doc I asked for and was instead told to stop contacting them. I did get my deposit back with interest, in a timely manner and was happy with that. Also, it is worth noting that part of the problem was that the trustee I was dealing with was not very forthcoming with information. So I can understand that the attorney probably often also didn't have the information I needed; however, that is no excuse for ignoring my emails and phone calls, not responding with a time to meet and discuss and sending an email with false accusations.
I did some work for them as a freelancer and they were 6 weeks late in paying my deposit, after I in good faith started working on their urgent project with the the understanding that the deposit will be paid asap. They then cancelled the project. The deposit is 50% of the project fee. I did a lot more than that. It was near complete. They have refused to pay me the outstanding amount. Even though it states in our agreement that they must pay the full amount even if the project gets cancelled.
This is just to notify people that this event coming up in PE and East London is by the same organizer that did the Stellenbosch Christmas Brilliance and Market. David Huni and Naomi gallery. If you do some research you'll find that they have ran a few disastrous events in the past and then released infuriating unapologetic press releases. Then do it again by changing the name of the event. My boyfriend and I went to the one in Stellenbosch after queueing for an hour with our tickets we bought online we were still no where near the front. There are lots of bad reviews here and on FB, by people who went to these events, got nothing for their money, no refund and no apology. It's the Fyre festival of Christmas markets.
I wish I could rate it zero stars. We didn't even make it inside, after standing in line for an hour (even though we purchased tickets online ahead of time) we were still no where near the front. People coming out were saying that there isn't enough food stalls and no way to get to the few stalls there are as there are too many people. And not much in the way of Christmas lights! We drove from CT to Stellenbosch after work on Friday, we were thirsty and hungry at this point, we went to investigate the front of the queue and it looked like once you were inside there was simply another queue. This was such a blatant rip-off, overselling tickets, lying about whats on offer and no organisation. It was the Fyre festival of Christmas markets. Shameful.
