My child is 22 months old and has moderate to severe hearing loss due to a genetic syndrome. An Ex-Gratia application was submitted in July 2021 soon after the audiologist identified the need for a specific hearing device and all documents were submitted. At the end of August they requested 3 quotes for the device (which cannot be given as the device is from a state facility). We have been going to a state hospital as to ensure costs do not exceed medical aid rates and tests/devices are at the lowest possible cost or available on tender. She is yet to access hearing aids. Today I was called by GEMS and told that this application will not be attended to until November as this is when the committee meets. How does GEMS Ex-Gratia Committee only meet quarterly? Medical aids delaying and extending processing these claims for months does not support early childhood intervention and denies a child access to basic needs. My daughter desparently needs access to hearing aids - she is severely speech delayed and her hearing is the key to her improvement. It will have been 4 months until they LOOKED at her application for consideration. I am devastated and feel hopeless.
I want to thank Swish and S**** for their professionalism and the incredible quality of their bags! In late 2019 I won a Instagram giveaway prize which included a R5000 Swish S**** voucher. I chose to get a brown leather duffel bag and black clutch. Their response and delivery was quick and the quality of both bags is amazing! Real leather, beautiful stitching and the products look exactly like the photographs.
I’ve never posted a negative review of a company before on HelloPeter but due to her unprofessionalism (which I see is similar to another reviewer), I feel that it is important for future clients to be forewarned. In late 2019 I entered an Instagram giveaway competition hosted by Swish and S**** (amazing company) with nearly 2000 entrants which I ended up winning. The prize was incredible - a collection of prizes by various companies - one of which was a lifestyle shoot by NDW Photography. The idea behind these giveaways is for companies to gain followers through entrants sharing to/tagging others, and receive free marketing to boost their business. After I had won, all the companies except NDW Photography contacted me to explain how to redeem my prize. After a few days, I messaged her on Instagram but received no reply. I then messaged her again, e-mailed her and posted on her Facebook page in order to try contact her, all with no response. Shortly afterward the Facebook post was deleted without explanation. I contacted the organizer and she confirmed that NDW Photography was definitely part of the giveaway and she would message to remind her but again I was not contacted. I am fully aware that I am not entitled to any prize because I did not pay for a service but I feel that companies that exploit others through competitions like this is unethical. If she was not able to meet the commitment to the organizer or myself for any reason I would totally understand, but having my messages ignored and deleted is sorely unprofessional.
