Good morning. My name is Jean Palmer and I am a member of the Eldorado Park taxi association. Yesterday morning (29/04/2020) at around 5am, my driver who is my brother as well was hit by a SAND truck. The accident took place at the intersection of Golden highway and Main Road in Eldorado Park. As per witnesses, the SANDF crossed a red bot and had no lights on hence the truck was not visible. Upon my arrival on the scene, the SANDF refused to let me near the scene. They did not even want to identify the driver of the vehicle. Only upon the arrival of the SANDF police on the scene did they switch on the lights of their vehicle. After witnessing this my family and I attempted taking pictures of which again they prevented us from doing. About 5 of my passengers were injured but not seriously however, my brother the driver has a crushed arm, broken ribs, punched lungs and a hurt liver is fighting in hospital and I'm not even allowed to see. If given the opportunity I would like to ask Cyril Ramaphosa if the SANDF is here to assist or if he brought them in to increase the number of deaths in south Africa since civic is not doing it fast enough. How long are we going to suffer at the hands of these people. I beg for your assistance in breaking this silence. They are law enforces they are not the law. To date theres no communication from their side.
