I was contacted by the owner, Vanita van Deventer, and met with her to discuss her business branding needs. After our meeting I sent quotes through to her for the various items she had requested, among which were: Recreation of her logo, setting-up of various provider accounts to allow for website hosting and email marketing, copywriting for use throughout her marketing material, email template design. She accepted the quotes and I began working on the various items. Throughout the process I kept her updated on the progress and supplied presentations of all work completed. When I sent my invoice through to her, all of a sudden she came up with numerous excuses, first she wasn't in town to do the payment, then her laptop stopped working, then she was waiting for SARS to clear a few things up and finally she said it was too expense and she refused to pay me. After weeks of pleading and asking for payment I eventually gave up. I have now seen that Vanita is making use of the copy I wrote for her on her website. She has never paid me for this or any of the work I had done for her. If you value your time and the effort you put into your client projects, PLEASE don't fall for this woman's excuses and lies! If this is how she treat's her business suppliers, one can't help but think that this is how she will ultimately treat the people that have entrusted her with their business.
