I’m extremely disappointed with Absa Bank and feel compelled to speak out after a deeply troubling experience. We recently received a call from Absa’s own ***** department number and the caller claimed that there were suspicious transactions on the account. They specifically targeted an elderly family member, clearly trying to scare them into revealing personal banking details, such as the last digits of the account number. This kind of *****ulent behavior is not only *********, it's outright predatory especially when it targets the elderly. What’s worse is that this call came from the same number Absa uses for legitimate ***** alerts, which means either someone has ****fed your number or there is a serious internal security breach. We reported the incident immediately and were told to expect feedback within 24 to 48 hours. It’s now been over three days and we haven’t heard a single word. No follow-up, no clarification, and no reassurance that our concerns are being taken seriously. The sacry thing is this isn't the first time they tried! Absa, your security protocols clearly need urgent upgrading, and your customer support response times in sensitive situations like these are unacceptable. Until we receive a proper explanation and resolution, we have completely lost confidence in your ability to protect your customers. Do better.
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding an incident that occurred during my recent visit to your establishment. As a first-time customer, I looked forward to enjoying your space. However, my experience was deeply marred by the actions of another patron, which forced me to leave without placing an order. Upon entering the restroom, I encountered a woman (a white patron) who began singing the word “coolie,” a deeply offensive and derogatory term historically used as a racial slur against individuals of Indian descent. The intent behind her actions was clearly directed at me, and I was left shocked and disturbed by her behavior. As a resident of KwaZulu-Natal visiting Cape Town for the first time, I had not anticipated experiencing such overtly ****** and disrespectful conduct, particularly in a public and supposedly welcoming environment. The entire experience was troubling and left me feeling uncomfortable, marginalized, and unwelcome. It also brought to mind painful memories of the ************** endured by previous generations during the apartheid era. I would not have expected such behavior to go unchecked in today’s South Africa. I sincerely hope that your establishment values all its customers equally and that incidents like this are not reflective of the culture you promote. I urge you to consider measures to ensure that every patron feels respected and safe within your premises, regardless of background or heritage.
I have received exceptionally poor service from this business since I have signed up for your vehicle tracking services. I have experienced great difficulty establishing contact from trying to obtain the installment certificate to to establishing contact with the credit controller. The call is never taken, never returned or always dropped.
