Active since Dec 2020
On the 25th of July 2022 I paid a deposit of R35000 to Mr William Hawkey for the installation of a battery and inverter back up system to combat load shedding. On the day, I was informed that as soon as he received the deposit he would purchase the stock needed and begin installation the very next day. The 26th of July came, followed by a text message saying that the battery had arrived but that that the inverter was not in stock. Fierce apologies were issued. I then patiently waiting until the 1st of August and chased up again. At this stage I was told that he was in the process of installing units at other house and that I would be the third person that day to get the installation done. I knew this would be challenging timetable to meet so I suggested he come and install the unit the following day. This was the 4th of August. Again he missed his appointment and promised faithfully that the installation would take place on the 8th of August. Of course on the 8th August he was a no show and by the 10th of August still nothing. More promises, even a whatsapp message to say that he had now received all my equipment and that he would be around on the 11th of August to carry out the installation. On the 11th August I had had enough so I told him I wanted a refund. No refund was forth coming and on the 16th I was offered 2 Deep cycle batteries instead of Lithium Ion that I had paid for. Also on the 16th I received a Whatsapp message stating that new stock was arriving 20th August. Further promises of getting the unit installed on the 22nd August followed. Again a no show. Today 23rd August I contacted my lawyer and will start the process of going through the courst to get my money back.
On the 28th of October, Dotsure sent me an email informing me that there would be an increase in my premium. I did not wish to pay said increase so decided cancel my insurance scheme instead. After forwarding my email stating I wished to Cancel my policy I was given a four day run around stating I was only able to cancel the policy via phone call and not in writing. This posed a problem as I am a Ships captain and was out in the middle of the ocean. I provided The insurance company with a means of contacting me only to be informed that phoning abroad was not permitted and that an exception would be made to allow me to terminate the policy. Once agreeing to my request, the consultant decided to try retain my business by offering me a lower package at a reduced rate. Ruth Duthie was polite, courteous and ultimately successful in her dealings with me and finally managed to get me to stay with Dotsure, albeit it on a reduced package.
Excellent service from Chantelle Groenewald at Dotsure.co.za for my pet insurance claim.
