Hexsagon Construction presents itself well when making first contact, quick to quote and to come to site to meet the client, but only delivers disappointment thereafter. A project that was presented by the owner of Hexsagon Construction to take 2 and half months was left only 35% completed after 4 and a half months, but a total of 90% of the work has been paid for, then the owner of the company decided to quit, stop work and leave site without paying the money back for the incomplete work. Material not bought but money received. The money is still not paid back although there is an agreement reached on the payback amount and dates and a contract in place drafted by the owner of Hexsagon Construction, he did not stick to the terms and still did not pay back the money. There are material taken from my property by the owner of Hexsagon Construction, which was not compensated for by the owner of Hexsagon Construction, and all of this can be proven with formal communication between myself and the owner of Hexsagon Construction. Please contact me before considering Hexsagaon Construction, and anyone is welcome to look at the pictures of incomplete, unprofessional and poor workmanship that was left by the owner of the company Hexsagon Construction.
Ian presented himself well the first time he visited me for the work he quoted on and there is in hind sight a very good reason why. A project that was suppose to take 2 and half months was left at around 35% completed after 4 and a half months, and a total of 90% of the work has been paid for, then he decided to leave site. He was very quick with response to quote, site visit and also able to start as quick as possible. His website appeared to be very professional and indicates a lot of rewards achieved. As with any building contractor he had a contract that he gave through that was indicative of his professionalism and everything in the contract made me believe that he will ensure full compliance to the project, timeline and budget, otherwise he would be subjected to the penalties in the contract. He started a day late, and there was from week one an indication that his people lives in areas that are heavily affected by strikes, transport constraints and cannot be on time, that is were the delays in project execution began as well as the false reports started. I paid all the money on time, immediately on request (same day as requested, always). The only thing he did was to demolish the walls, dug the foundations, casted it, and there after started to build the walls. There was always a shortage of material, although the money for it was paid to him - proof of payments for material was never presented by him. In some cases material, like paint was fully paid for, but the lowest quality was bought and there was not enough to start with and finish in one go... workers sat and waited for the next tin, and his excuse was always that it can only be mixed by a certain person at the area where it was bought. His “workmanship” was poor and unprofessional. he never updated the invoices, project plan but always asked for more information around "what I though is still outstanding and what should be prioritized". I had to ask him to break down numerous areas and to re do them. i.e. The indoor braai platform was built 1.2m high, and that is without the grill installed...purely unpractical hight. When asked why it was done like that his excuse was that he does not know what we was thinking but it will be redone. After the wall were built the real time constraints started and the project got delayed daily, and weekly. He made promises that he will take labour resources from other sites to pull back the project in time, but that also was just talk, it never happened and the project got delayed further daily. No electrical provisions were made for (i.e. conduits for electricity, plug points etc.). No water drain work or other plumbing work provision, planning and execution were made for. When he did the concrete roof slab there were no electrical boxes, piping or conduits placed, because his electrician was "busy at another site", then he jumped in and did it himself, but does not have the practical experience or know how. All of the work must be corrected afterwards by installing a new false sealing. He did not get to the waterproofing of the roof slab, because he decided to leave site. Different day laborers arrived at my house each week and all are complaining that they are not paid…threatening my wife who was everyday alone at the house on site. He made a turn at my building site on average maybe three times a week. His family were continuously being used as an escape routes and excuses, sick and unwell and needs be attended to, hence why he cannot attend to the sites - whether this is true or not I do not know. He always promises that he will provide a project plan on how he will pull back to get on time, but just show up with a clip board and a piece of written paper. His “bakkie” was also part of the excuses, always on a breakdown, and cannot do certain deliveries or get to site due to it. He used the equipment of other sub-contractors on the site that did work directly for me, because he did not have his own equipment, his workers also helped themselves to my equipment in the garage because they did not have their own available to do the work. He always indicated when I asked if we could do some additional work “everything can be done provided your budget allows it”, just to lure me in. The quality of work of everything was poor and unprofessional to say the least. He took my old indoor braai, laminated floors form the main bedroom, large aluminum frame window (complete) and was going to compensate me for it, but never did, all of it is just gone. He left my property a month ago, and asked me to do a reconciliation on the work done, and he will do the same, then he will pay my money back. It is a month later and he still makes excuses daily saying that he will still pay me. A week ago he sent a message stating that he paid a certain amount back to me and asked the bank to mail a POP, three days after when I asked him about it he said that he was not honest but will phone me the following day at 08h00 and discuss the way forward with me.
