If you are one of the vulnerable and unfortunate women who lose their hair because of chemotherapy or, much more commonly that is generally known, because of different kinds of alopecia, please avoid these charlatans. So much of being a woman is bound up in how you look and how you feel about yourself. So hair loss is a very tough thing, and the decision to go for a wig is not one you take lightly. My hairdresser referred me to Mike & Liz, and the experience was awful. The person who sold me the wigs was abrupt, unfriendly, completely disinterested and devoid of charm or compassion. I bought two wigs from them (now I'm wondering why), both of which they said were 100% human hair. I don't remember exactly how much I spent there, but it was well over R20 000. I was never really happy with either wig, and had to take them back several times to be altered because they fitted badly and the colour was too brassy, but they still didn't look right and I have rarely worn them. While in London I took one of them to a wigmaker here to see if it could be made to fit better and to see if the colour could be adjusted. They tested the wig and then came the revelation that it wasn't 100% human hair but a combination of synthetic and human hair, and that therefore there was nothing they could do to fix it. They showed me how the colour and texture of the wig differed sharply from front to back, the texture being fine and silky in front and co**** and tufty in the back. The colour also changed abruptly from a too-bright yellow to a sort of ashy colour. When I contacted them to ask them to consider a refund seeing they had given me false information, they quite rudely said the window for return was closed and there would be no refund. They also said that they didn't make the wigs, they imported them, and basically I had no recourse. I wrote to them again and got no reply. So : Thieves and liars! They are also VERY bad at answering their phones and texts, and their waiting times for the wigs are much longer than they promise (they blame Covid, of course.) Please do not go to these people.
