yesterday, 4 Jan 2024 we held my son's wedding at McPherson's Group, 42 Gill Road, Table View. One of the biggest reasons we decided on the venue, was the cost. it was reasonable and suited our budget, I told a close friend, who happens to be an events organizer, about our choice. She warned me that she had held an event there a few years ago and that the venue disappointed her, at that time. This caused me some concern, especially when we got to the venue and the hostess was not available to show us around... my apprehension, however, was short-lived,... we were escorted and shown around by Arnold, the floor manager, who was well-spoken, friendly, and knowledgeable (for those who didn't know, McPherson was originally a nursery) on the day of the wedding, we were met by a well-prepared venue, friendly, efficient staff and service. what impressed me most was the service and how smoothly it went. my events friend who had warned me about McPherson's previously, told me that the venue had been much improved since her last visit. the two highlights for me were how unobtrusive the staff were and the snacks on the harvest table. i would have to be honest and subtract half a star for the gents, I am too traditional for the open-plan toilet... other than that we had a great time and i was particularly impressed by the lengths they went to, to make the experience pleasant for us.
I have been a member of Hosmed for about 10 years now. a few years back I had a problem with the medical aid messing up the debit order for my membership. this took a number of months to resolve, till I informed them that I would pay the premiums directly to them. recently sizwe and hosmed amalgamated. i thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to resume the debit orders for my membership [(spoiler alert) it was not]. i completed the correct forms and submitted them to the medical aid. i called to confirm that all was well and expected that everything was resolved. to my surprise, no deduction was made for Jan 2022. I contacted the medical aid and was informed there was a problem but that a double premium would be deducted for Feb 2022. this was not done. i then spent about R200 in phone calls trying to find out what had happened... with the expectation that I would receive an explanation and a guarantee that the matter would be resolved. i have not been able to speak to a team leader, supervisor, or manager (they have meetings 24/7 it seems) I finally sent three emails to the following email addresses, as per their website (info@sizwe-hosmed.co.za, enquiries@sizwe-hosmed.co.za and finance@sizwe-hosmed.co.za) I did not even receive an acknowledgment of receipt. i then sent an email to Wandile Dladla ( whom I believe is a manager or supervisor at Sizwe Hosmed ), but I have not received any response yet. i have since been informed that my membership has been suspended.... so I am posting here in the hope that I will finally get a response and a resolution to the matter.
