I write this with a very heavy heart. I’ve worked with The Lightbulb Photography (previously June & July Photography) a few times before. She has never been great with the admin side of her business, but I let that slide, because her photos were always so beautiful. So I booked my child’s newborn shoot with her. I didn’t want the typical newborn shoot, and discussed what we wanted and I sent her reference pictures, etc. I provided all the props, so didn’t ask her to bring anything. All was set. I was excited to work with her again. But, without sounding dramatic, it quickly turned into a nightmare. I messaged her after a month of not hearing anything and I was ghosted. Continued calling and messaging, but she never answers. Finally she says she is in front of her computer and sending the link as we speak. It never came and her phone was switched off. Fast forward another two or three weeks where she continuously lies about power outages, being sick, dealing with personal problems, being hospitalised or just being too busy, I finally had enough and gave her a deadline. And then another. And another. One excuse after the other. I finally received a total of 10 edited images of my newborn…each photo was only a few kilobytes big, so very pixelated, and “edited” so badly with blurry backgrounds and extremely bad deep etching. This is so sad to me as I can never get this special time in my life back. I am warning all that might think of choosing The Lightbulb for their special occasions to reconsider. There are tons of amazing photographers in SA. Photographers that will deliver and not disappoint. Stay
