Payfast is indeed supporting *****sters! Consumers beware - Payfast enables misconduct and ***** by merchants. I recently made a payment via Payfast for an online transaction and shortly realised the merchant was *****ulent after the transaction went through. The merchant's phone line does not work, their social media handles are inactive and misleading - they are clearly a ghost operation. I contacted Payfast to report the matter, but they haughtily claimed they do not investigate merchant-related claims. Yet the merchant is religiously signed up on their gateway, merrily taking payments even as ***** and abuse by the merchant is flagged to the Payfast. By South African consumer law, they owe a duty of care to verify merchants on their platforms and act on complaints. I am now preparing to escalate the matter, but in the meantime, consumers are warned.
I have recently tried to do a two-pot withdrawal, but for months now my portal that would allow me to do this has not been working. I called in and was asked to email their digital support unit for a reset, which I did. Several unanswered follow-ups via email - and their glitchy WhatsApp bot later - and I am still unable to get into my portal, and when I call I am kept on hold for half an hour before the call drops. Come on Sanlam, do better!
Avoid. Like the plague. I ordered two DC splitter cables on 21 December 2022. Their site showed this was available, and that they were still open as a business. Having paid online, they ghosted me with their phone lines switched off, until 4 Jan when they resurfaced to say the cables were not available, and that they would refund. This refund is yet to happen as per today, and they don't respond to me anymore. Stay away, or as others say, be swindled.
RUN IF YOU CAN. I made an order on 18 November of R4,114 and paid for it promptly. The bank confirmed the funds had been paid into Hello Paisa's account, well before close of business. But the transaction was not settled, and when I queried the company, they claimed there was a "mismatch". It was a terrible experience for me because I was travelling in the country I had asked a pay-out from, and I was left in a position where I had no funds and had to literally beg and borrow. The customer service agents were extremely rude, including one told me to 'do what you want'. It is now a week later and I have not received my refund. All I am told is to create endless new orders, which doesn't make sense at all as I no longer need the funds in the currency I initially ordered as I am back in South Africa and all I want is my rand refund. There are BETTER companies out there who treat their customers decently - STAY AWAY from Hello Paisa people!!!
