Paint Doctor Nightmare

My intentions here is not to attack an individual company or person but rather to protect you, as the customer, from going through the same experience I had to. I have been renovating my house for the last 5 years and have had multiple companies do work for me from solar installation to pool repairs, to garden and irrigation work and building projects. I have used professional, well established companies, right through to startup companies. I have unfortunately never dealt with a company as poor as Paint Doctor. I am not certain they could finish a project properly if they tried. You might not care as much as I but for those of you that want a quality finish please pass on this company or at least carefully read through the following. If you decide to give them a try because they offer a cheaper quotation kindly be on the look out for the following , document everything and take photos of every aspect of the project. Don’t pay large deposits and be mindful of the fact that they produce their own paints and as such does not have to paint according to strict standards set by other companies. Workmanship is truly poor. They will send you a very nice description of how they prepare and paint your roof, walls and window frames but they do not follow them. Check you gutters afterwards and make sure they were sealed properly. You will need to be present 24/7 to make sure they properly clean and prepare your roof. Mine was not and they merely painted over debris and moss. Not sure how long that will last. Bonding and painting is done but the results are poor. You will need them to come back multiple times for this. Cracks in external walls are not sealed and no effort is taken to match to your existing surface texture. Also take note if they work - absolutely no surface protection is used and they managed to mess up a 200k+ worth Red Ironbark wooden deck. If you get the team with Stefan in, or later get escalated to his “supervisor” Daniël, I truly feel sorry for you. You will end up with team spending about 3 hours a day working, smoking **** and poisoning your garden with cigarette buds. Your 4 week project will turn into a 50 day nightmare. After conclusion of the project and 4 attempts (or 2 weeks later) to rectify the snag list the results remained the same. Quality of work is utterly poor and won’t last the time of you guarantee. As I refused to pay full outstanding amount and we settled for less I lost my warranty on paint and workmanship. Honestly would not want them back but given the company you deal with here I would be shocked if they honour that in any case. The only reason they tolerated me was because I was holding onto a chunk of their change. Bottom line… If you own a house you really treasure, stick with a company that paints with Dulux, Plascon or other big brands so they can be held accountable for their work. Despite me documenting, complaining, sending photos and offering them every opportunity to rectify the problem I was bombarded with multiple generic threats, letters of demands and empty promises. I ended up with a poorly prepare, poorly painted house with no warranty to back it up. I would love to hear what other people’s opinion is about this company, but in my view, stay far far away. If nothing else I hope I can avoid you from making the same mistakes I did.
