Totally Disgusted with Discovery – my mum of 75 years is on Discovery Core Plan (Hospital Plan) for the past 7 months with a 3-month general waiting period completed and a 1 year for pre-existing conditions. Existing conditions Diabates and Pressure. She had severe chest pains and was rushed to the Mount Edgecombe hospital with irregular Heartbeat and was treated in trauma and the Doctor ran checks and decided to admit due to the irregular heartbeat. All documents were sent through and DISCOVERY decided to decline admission due to her sugar being high. The case manager for Discovery that works in the hospital mentioned she advised Discovery to admit her but we were sent from pillar to post from 10 in the morning till 7 in the evening whilst my mum lay in in the trauma. The Hospital staff was shocked in the manner which Discovery carried themselves and really tried to help till the very end. We waited 20 -30 minutes holding on for assistance from Discovery per attempt and that was like 5 times. We were told to wait 30 minutes at 19:00 so that the documents could be reviewed and I am still waiting 15 hours later for that call whilst my mum lay ill at home. Shame on you Discovery it can’t always be about the money….
What an awful experience.We booked at El Elyon In protea Umhlanga but on arrival was told that booking was done incorrectly and they only accommodated us for 2 instead of 4.We were redirected to the dbn north branch. Upon arrival at the dbn north branch we were greeted by a terrible stench as somebody was using the toilet.Directed to the rooms and the towels were damp and had a horrible stench. The the****** was so unprofessional as they did not even know how to conduct the massage. We booked a 2.5 hour massage the the****** spent practically an hour in our room and the rest outside.They did not even no how to use the steam machine.The bed had a *****/nail that poked me whilst lying on the bed. We put the light on to leave to be greeted by cocroaches. I have been trying to find a complaints department or customer service to no avail I don't think they have one.Now I have been offered a free massage which I don't want.Nobody seems to be helping as I would like a total refund. I have pictures and tests relating to my booking for the above.
