Review: I am extremely disappointed with how Sanlam handled my late father’s policies ) under the Estate of Mcviccar Minto Mkokeli (ID: 6202105112086). Despite being a direct heir, I was excluded from the Letter of Executorship, and my proof of relationship, including an affidavit, was flagged and amended without explanation. This caused significant delays and unnecessary complications in accessing policy information. What shocked me most is that the policies were cancelled on 6 October 2025, five years after my father passed away on 19 September 2019, and just two days after I attended the Master’s Court in Grahamstown (4 October 2025). Sanlam’s report says this was due to an “administrative oversight,” but the timing is highly suspicious and raises serious questions about the handling of these policies. I hope Sanlam investigates this thoroughly. This experience shows a concerning trend of irregularities and poor administration that could affect other policyholders and heirs. I am sharing this review to warn others and to urge Sanlam to ensure transparency, proper governance, and accountability in handling policies, especially after a policyholder’s death.
Dear HelloPeter Team I am seeking your urgent assistance regarding the handling of my late father’s estate, which has been pending for five years without fair resolution. Before my father’s passing, he officially changed my surname to his surname, and this change was published in the Government Gazette. However, despite this legal change, I was purposely excluded from his estate by my half-siblings, with the apparent cooperation of officials from the Master’s Office. My name was bypassed in the estate documents, even though there is clear proof of my surname change and rightful connection to my late father. I have already lodged a formal complaint with the Master’s Office in Grahamstown/Makhanda and submitted a follow-up letter requesting intervention by the Master’s Court. Unfortunately, there has been no progress or feedback since then. This situation has caused me deep emotional and financial distress. I kindly request HelloPeter’s assistance in helping me escalate this matter and ensure that the National Master’s Office and Regional Master’s Office (Grahamstown/Makhanda) take immediate action to investigate and correct this injustice. Please help me get the attention of the relevant authorities so that I can be rightfully included in my late father’s estate as per the law. Thank you for your time and assistance. Yours sincerely, Mangaliso Mkokeli 0739494563
Dear Sir/Madam I, Mangaliso Mkokeli (ID: 9111086013089), lost my father, Minto Mkokeli (ID: 6202105112086), in 2019. My father was employed at the Department of Home Affairs at the time of his passing. Since his death, I have been unable to find closure due to ongoing disputes with my siblings over his estate. I currently reside in Cape Town, while the rest of my father's children live in East London. According to my understanding, we were all supposed to be present during the reading of his estate's executive will. A date was set, but the siblings changed it, and I was not there when the letter was opened or read. I asked my siblings about the letter and what our father left to me and the other siblings, but that information was never disclosed to me. I then reached out to the master's office in Grahamstown, requesting information regarding my dad's estate, but they refused to help or share any details. I let it go, but a couple of months later, I was sent R30, 000 with no explanation. I tried to inquire again with the master's office in Grahamstown and my siblings to find out what our father left to us and how his other assets would be split, but I had no luck. I really need help regarding this issue. Is there a way I can get the original letter from the master's office to see what my father left to us as siblings? I need to find closure. I also believe that my father made a beneficiary on more than one policy and would have fairly split his assets between me and my siblings, but now I am being left in the dark. Yours Sincerely Mangaliso Mkokeli
