I have been to a few different Clay cafes around Johannesburg. So far, this one is the worst experience that I have had. We decided to go for a girls' day to this create cafe. Each of us spent between R500 and R700. And there were three of us. Normally I go with my husband. Here is my experience: The waiter forgot my drink twice, and I had to ask for it again (but she brought my friend's drink), but I am a very patient person, so this was not my biggest problem at all; it simply added to the experience. My problem was with the actual pottery itself. Firstly, it was not broken, thankfully, so that is good. However, they did not remove the clay s****s from the jug that I painted. So, they glazed the clay s****s into the jug. The jug was also not glazed completely, meaning that I can't use it as a jug because what I put into the jug will absorb into the clay. So, now it's just an ornament. Which is fine. My only other problem was that when I asked the waiter if the white paint would cover up any mistakes, she agreed that it would and that after the glaze, you wouldn't see anything. I triple checked this with her as well. Unfortunately, it didn't, so now I have random white blotches where I made mistakes. The cafe also does not give you any tutorials or tools like the other ones do, and it takes away from the experience. I would suggest the Lonehill one for anyone who is looking for a good experience. Food is 10/10, and also service is 10/10. I do know that the waiter was having a bad day because I did ask her if she was okay and she was open and honest about it. However, I would suggest you don't go there because of the experience of the actual pottery in terms of glaze and the tools as it really does make the experience much easier. But, if you want some really tasty food, with all due respect, knock yourself out because that was at least a 10/10.
