In March 2025, I discovered that African Credit Union had placed my name under debt review—without my consent or knowledge. I never enquired, never app****, never spoke to anyone at this company prior to the listing. This was done behind my back and in clear violation of the National Credit Act and POPIA. Since July, I’ve been chasing their team for answers and cancellation. I was thanked for an “application” I never made. I was even told the debt review had been cancelled—yet there’s been no proof, no paperwork, no accountability. They have: 1. Refused to provide signed documents or call logs to back their claim, 2. Ignored my legal right to a full disclosure of information, 3. Damaged my ability to access credit and caused emotional distress. This is not just poor service—it's *****ulent and ********* behaviour. I am now taking legal steps and have reported them to the NCR and Information Regulator. I caution anyone considering working with this company. Don’t wait until your name is ruined to realise what kind of operation this is.
Never ever have I dealt with such a *****ed company, they sign you up for something you didn't WANT , they won't stop harassing you with calls - even when they were told on many occasions that you are not interested in the service, somehow they claim to have a 'document' I didn't sign, asked me for a bank statement to escalate the issue but secretly signed me up, there customers services looks like they earn commission because they are not helpful. Now it's like pulling teeth and to undo this whole mess their cancelation form specifically asks you to agree to this sentence "debt review will remain on my name until all short terms credit accounts are paid in full and a clearance certificate is issued...." like WHAT??
