I had the most horrible experience ever at Suki Sushi and Asian Cuisine on 6th Avenue in Port Elizabeth. When I arrived, I saw a thin, tall white lady with short hair. She gave me zero attention when I asked for a seat. Instead, she made me look for one myself and basically said I could sit wherever. I then wasn’t attended to for a good 10 minutes—she didn’t even ask me what I wanted to order, let alone check up on me. Strangely enough, two white couples and other white individuals arrived, and the same waitress gave them a completely different experience. She constantly went to their table, intentionally skipping mine, serving them, and checking up on them. A lovely young Black man who was working as the barman noticed how I was being neglected and kindly took my order. However, it was uncomfortable because his job was to make drinks, not serve food, especially when there were several waitresses available. Mind you, it was my birthday, and I was trying out this restaurant for the first time. I felt segregated (hence why I emphasize the skin tone), because this is exactly how I was made to feel. I never want anyone else to experience what I went through- i wont stop posting or telling people my expereince until i get an apology.
