Either... (1) Avis intentionally stole from me, or (2) Avis could not care less when I pointed out that their staff stole from me. Four weeks ago (22 March) I rented a car from Avis Port Elizabeth airport for two days. Prior returning the vehicle I filled it up at the Engen a few hundred meters down the road from Avis. It was filled to the brim (the attendant shook the vehicle to get the last few drops inside). Minutes later I handed the car and keys back to Avis. Two days later (26 March) Avis processed a refueling charge to my credit card. This is clearly *****ulent. The only question is whether it was an intentional act from Avis or whether a dishonest staff member took advantage of a weak internal process. Either way, it is for Avis to resolve. I immediately reported it to Avis. I have since been in email contact with them. They take days to respond to anything and is no closer to resolving this. Their last formal response was that they have no answer but will escalate it to the branch management. Really? I've now given them ample time to do the right thing. Doesn't seem like they are going to. Pity. Competition is strong in the rental market.
