Email said: "Please see attached quote to replace the facia boards (3 in total - 1 broken on side & back also) & fix the roof leaks." and Chris Hechter’s quote read: " SEAL EAST SIDE OF GARAGE ROOF & PA****T WALL REPLACE 400MM FACIA BOARDS AT THREE PLACES SEAL ROOF VALLEY ABOVE LOUNGE AREA" Unbeknown to me the roof was hastily repaired with a combination of mesh & paint & far below any acceptable work practices & 6 months later the roof was still giving issues. The also facia fell off. Upon closer inspection dirt & water was pooling in the mesh & rusted old parts/joints were reused when repairing the facia. The wood was rotten under the facia & the gutters were full of sand. (Although not in the quotation a reputable contractor would have highlighted this to me). Further inspections revealed the repairs on the East side were also not suitable. When confronted by this poor workmanship Chris Hechter refused to refund the money for the valley & East side even though this was well within any acceptable workmanship guarantee. Have a look at the photos & you be the judge & think carefully should you agree any maintenance work performed by Chris Hechter from CC Projects.

Well written Mr McLaren. Reading the News24 article it seems as if you have many dissatisfied customers. (Remember for every complainant that takes the time and effort to sit down and write a bad report there are at least 100 who don't have the time). The money you took from me was substantial but not enough to continue the fight. I discussed this issue with a detective at my local SAPS and his advice was unless I had a lot of time on my hands I had best lay a complaint via Hello Peter. You have avoided a police case this time simply because I chose not to push this issue further.

Cabinet Maker, WoodGuy from Nelspruit) - do not trust this operator with a deposit. It is as good as gone and be warned, his workmanship is school woodwork level work. My money is gone, but I hope by reading this I can save others from being ripped off.

Very well known in the Pretoria area for accepting deposits and then never completing the job. (Also trades as Pretoria Handyman or Pretoria Kitchens) NOW operating in Nelspruit. Do not give a deposit. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY FOR WOODWORK OR MAINTENANCE. If you are silly enough to fall for his tricks do not pay a deposit and don't pay until the job is complete. He knows many shortcuts.

Very well known in the Pretoria area for accepting deposits and then never completing the job. Typical Con man. Look competent and friendly when you first meet him. A crook at the end. Takes deposits and then never completes the job. NOW OPERATION IN THE LOWVELD AT WOOD GUY. For further info Google search Guy McLaren or WOOD GUY.
