I have recently decided to close my Momentum Healthsaver contract/account. It started because I had to pre-pay my Specsavers order for reading glasses ( as they wouldn't submit the order for lenses to be made unless they had 75% of the payment -( R3000 on my credit card) had been made - although I had R7500 in my Healthsaver account at the time. I immediately, the same day, sent my claim and invoice through and hoped that they would be quick so that I would not have to pay the crazy credit card interest that I was forced to now have. It took Momentum 60 days to pay me out - nevermind all the emails I had to send. Two months of credit card interest later. And obviously they don't cover that. I now still have R4500 in my Healthsaver and I decided I would rather pay my daughter's school fees up front and get a discount from the school with that money and then save extra money every month myself seeing as I am very disciplined like that. It also states on my Healthsaver statement that upon cancelation the positive balance will be paid out. Nothing further. Just to find out now after sending the documents to cancel and after waiting 40 days already that Momentum will only pay the money out after 6 MONTHS !! In the contract that they now sent me it states "within 6 months" which very obviously means according to the English language that it will be any time from day 1 to day 179. The choice lies with Momentum according to this - and one would believe that it would not be 179 because no one should be that mean or slow. Problem is - this was not stated from the beginning - plus I would have never let the savings amount run up that high - and the email from Roland at Momentum now even says "only paid out 6 months after the termination date". So , not even their own people understand English. Basically Momentum is punishing people for being good at saving. The fact that they have the option of paying it out sooner than six month is not even being considered. So , now I would like to know - apparently interest of my money will be paid out too according to the contract - but I cannot find an interest rate in the contract. Convenient when you are putting my money in an investment that is obviously stuck for a few month with a high interest rate. I would like someone who actually understands the ridiculousness of this situation to contact me and stop punishing people for saving for emergencies. Just as an added comment - I have never claimed on my Momentum Hospital plan for me and my daughter - not once - you have made money off me for many years now.
My daugther and I have been eating Crosse & Blackwell Tangy Mayonnaise on everything for a few years now. Especially chicken schnitzel. The other night we though the Woolworths Schnitzels we bought were off due to a strong amoniac taste and smell - so, we threw them away. This evening we had some mayonaise with dinner again and I realised the same taste and smell was back. I decided to smell the Crosse & Balckwell Mayonaise this time in the bottel and it almost knocked me off my chair with the harsh amoniac smell. I thought the bottle was off... so, I went to the cubboard and took out a brand new bottle - just to smell the same disgusting smell!! I am seriously worried about what has been added to this product. It cannot be legal and I will not buy another bottle. Will just have to find a new brand. Sad but true.
