No Refund on Wedding Venue Cancellation

On 13 June 2013 I booked a wedding venue for the 21st of December 2013 at the above mentioned company. I later cancelled the booking. The wedding venue fee was R9120 including VAT. I paid a deposit of R5000. On the 11 July 2013 I cancelled the booking and requested the refund. The company offered to pay me back 50 percent of the deposit I have paid. I rejected the amount and suggested that they pay me at least 80 percent back as I had informed them in time about the cancellation. They indicated that they are withdrawing in paying me even the 50 percent. So that meant they were not going to pay me even a cent back. I forfeited the whole R5000.
