We would like to warn the public about poor workmanship and backlashing should you request better service from this company. We have nothing to gain from this other than informing the public about a possible mistake if you are planning to make use of them. We were informed that a change in the foundation height had to be made, and we were informed that this is our only option, making the entire newly build part of the house with a ceiling at 2.5m from the ground (that I can now touch just standing on the floor) and the old existing part being 2.8m to the ceiling. After we notice this issue and confronted them the excuses ranging from "You're tall so it’s only a issue to you, this is the standard building height, the architect should have pick this up". Even the owner of the company saying "Well you can always just sell this house and buy a new one?" We had a snag list done over so many times to the point that they tried to guild trip me into rather doing it myself, for example cleaning up where cement was mixed on the ground or making holes in the roof where electric cables should have gone through to the new area. At the end they never done these things and we had to do it ourselves. When we were putting buckets in the roof after the roof started leaking and found sweets wrappers in the new roof area. What bothered us is that these wrappers where from very specific sweets that we bought and kept in a container in our kitchen inside a cupboard. We were also missing a mobile phone that belongs to one of our kids that we thought might have just been misplaced in the home. When confronting them they said their workers said they buy this quite expensive very specific sweets by the bags and that they will not acknowledge that someone took the phone but will replace it at their cost. This is the people they asked me to leave alone in my house the entire day to work while the builder himself is not always present. I’m not saying it was all horrible, parts are done well BUT if they make a mistake or do poor workmanship and you confront them, they backlash at you, get aggressive and try and blame anyone instead of owning up and fixing it. Some things were fixed but others were left or done so poorly we had to redo it ourselves. Our mistake was going on a few facebook photos of their work and not coming to hellopeter and reading complaints and reviews about them, our intention is not to cause them harm but to save other people like ourselves from making this mistake of using them.

Name and Shame – Radcon Projects – Please Share

I am posting this NOT because I think it will result in the poor workmanship related to my property being repaired/corrected or me being refunded for the costs I’ve had to pay to fix issues thus far, we are way past that and after numerous promises and attempted repairs of sub standard quality I have given up and got another contractor to carry out repairs. If this post reaches someone and can prevent them from ending up in the same situation then it was worth the effort to type this, so please share.

Many promises are made but poor workmanship is guaranteed. No building project goes without hick-ups but this is ridiculous. To sum up, I now have to replace the skirting’s in my house (all of them) and due to that repaint the interior completely, I have to replace bedroom cupboards and some vanities due to leaks, I have to get the roof repaired that has been leaking for 2 months (see damage to walls and cupboards from leaking roof), waterproofing needs to be done properly on some sections of the house, paint quality is poor and needs repair all over. Since I moved in in November I have spent approx R20k on repairing poor plumbing, alignment of glass and with the electrical board as the electrical installation was let’s say “less than legal”.When I contact them I get told to phone another plumber as they don’t have time now, but I am never reimbursed for the damage. I will probably need to spend another R50k-R60k on repairing the other items I noted above, and the list is by no means exhaustive. Some of you may ask why I didn’t hold money back until I was completely satisfied, the reason was that the builder refused to give me the occupancy certificate before he was paid in full... so my options were move into my house and pay or stay in my rental property. I was getting quite tired of paying rent considering my house was 6 months over the completion deadline...

I am now tired of all the excuses and being told that the subcontractor is at fault for this and that ( I didn’t hire a subcontractor, I contracted with Radcon, Radcon hired the subcontractor and that has nothing to do with me as client ). The workmanship and related “repairs” are so poor that I decided to tell them to not come back (since they never pitch when agreed in any case, repairs they did do were not done properly and then I have to “wait till we are done with our other job”. Thank God that I had my own engineer signing off on structure etc. The fact that water leaks into my room and hallway is of no concern to them. Also, I get calls from suppliers to this day asking me why they have not been paid for materials, materials that I have paid Radcon for as per progress certificates. My Architect, a very well known one, also commented that his firm will never work with Radcon or anyone associated with them again. They make the client feel like they are doing them a favour to come back and “help with the issues”. If it was done properly the first time then it would not need to be repaired, and considering the project was > 6 Months past the completion deadline they had all the time in the world to do a proper job, just don’t think they care

I now personally know of at least 2 other cases of workmanship like the above in centurion from Radcon and the mo is the same, excuses and blaming this and that on the reason why they can’t correct their workmanship. I have used them before in an old house just for some painting etc and that went ok, but when it comes to building....

I am performing building upgrades at my home. What started off as good service, soon turned out to be the worst service I have ever experienced. From changing supplier specifications after receiving the deposits for aluminium windows, to not performing sliding gate cast-in rails to very shoddy electrical work without COC.
This company has close to R30 000 in my deposits, but have not been able to deliver in 4 months. Please be advised to not make use of these people, lots of promises, no delivery !!!! We will have our day in Court ...
