I had a very disappointing experience at Renaissance Day Spa Sandton. I purchased a sunscreen from them after specifically asking whether it leaves a white cast. The the****** confidently assured me that it wouldn’t, as long as I “warmed it up” before applying. Unfortunately, that advice was misleading. Despite following the instructions, the product leaves a very noticeable white cast on my face — completely unsuitable for black skin. When I raised the issue, the receptionist dismissed my concern, insisting that the white cast was “fine” and still appropriate for black skin. This response was not only unhelpful but also incredibly dismissive and tone-deaf. I requested a refund or at least an exchange for a more suitable product, but they refused. I expected better from a spa of this calibre. The lack of accountability and poor customer service has ensured that I won’t be returning or recommending Renaissance Day Spa to others.

I booked a Dermapen treatment at Renaissance Day Spa.The consultant, Regina lifted the bed suddenly to a seated position without advising me. This shocked my body from a relaxed mood to a sudden movement which caused an injury to my back. I advised the manager Chantell and waited for further feedback from the owner. I called the spa again and the owner Paul returned my call. He was adamant that his staff was not responsible and they denied any responsibility and commented that I caused the injury by myself. The disappointment is that I had to endure the pain from the injury and took antiflammatories to ease the pain. Management took their staff word over my complaint.

One star is way too many for this facility. I booked a Mother's day massage and it was literally the most painful massage ever. I communicated several times to the the****** to reduce pressure but this was never done. I was told I am unfit hence the pain of the massage. The the****** was rude and front of house staff did not wear a mask. I left feeling in pain, horrified at the experience and customer service. Management did call back after formal complaint laid. They did apologize but unfortunately for the amount of money spent for a service that was completely horrid that does not cut it for me. Will never go back again. Rather spend your money at the Saxon, Four seasons or The Leonardo spa. Trust me, do not go here.

So my husband and I both recieved vouchers for our birthdays from my parents. It was my first time going to this particular Spa as I have my favorite I always go to in Fourways but thought the location would mean top class service and a day of utter relaxation. Lets start with the booking process, everytime i called in to acquire times and dates that works around their availability and my husbands busy work schedule, reception was utterly confused each time giving different information. Each time I'd call a different lady at reception would answer and it was a different story each time, they have no clue as to what's going on at all. I'd call in get a date, call hubby and he would confirm he could do it on the date the spa would give me then call Renaissance back to confirm and another receptionist would say the day isn't available or the Thai massage lady is not in that day or the couple's room is not available....every time a different story....really!!! It honestly took a long and lengthy process to get them to agree on what date would work for them each time having to reconfirm with hubby while he was at work almost to the point we both wanted to just throw the vouchers away. When I say a long time I don't mean hours....it took almost two weeks!! Once we got the couples room and dates ext, I informed them of what vouchers I had, the price ext and they went through it to put together a package for us both according to the amount on the voucher. I still confirmed with them that it would be covered and they agreed. I decided to use only the amount on the voivoucher and not add in anything over and above except for lunch which we planned in the middle of our 4hrs of treatments. On the day I called in to confirm the time we should be there as I knew our first treatment was at 12 o'clock, they told me to arrive at 3:30pm...mmm....now we had 4hrs together worth of treatments so I told the lady at reception to rather confirm as it sounds incorrect. We also planned an hour lunch break so it would be 5 hrs of us being there so 3:30pm really??? Reception finally figured it and got over the constant state of confusion it seems they suffer from and finally told us to arrive at 11:40 am which sounded more like it but she told me the order of the day and it was all swopped around she told me we would do all our treatments first then lunch afterwards and I thought its probably better as the day is starting to sound like mess and anything but a day of calm relaxation so I agreed but was completely annoyed with the level of service and their understanding of what's going on. So we get there, they call us late for our first treatment and then tell us our lunch hour is booked in the middle of our 4 hrs treatments ...***!!! No...i told them to make a plan as I just want to get out of there asap. Our massages and express reflexology was really good and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat by the pool after and then went for our exfoliation and mud chamber which I've done at other spa's....let me tell you the "rain" at the end to gently wash off the mud ext is more of a hose down from the fire department, the water sprays so hard in your face from the ceiling it's hard to breath or see where you are and you can't open your eyes to try get the hell out....hubby thankfully saved me from it and got me out as i was blinded and in a bit of a shock from going from completely relaxed to hosed the f&$@k out. Then our facial....the girls have no clue about the products ...what's in them or how they work....i go once a month for my peels and facials to a place in Bedfordview, they are amazing and its the same products so i know a thing or two. Before we can open our eyes and get up and "wake up" from our facials they are trying to sell us products literally like walking thorough a road side flea market....it was insane trying to force us to buy the stuff putting bottles of products on my husband's chest so he couldnt even get up to run like he'll, I was up in a flash and was dressed before they could corner me even though they tried their best into pressuring me after I said no over a dozen times....we raced out almost swatting them off us...it was a horrible way to end a soothing relaxing facial. So annoyed and tiered of the experience we were walking out a day at the spa stressed and irritated and that is definitely not how one should feel after 4 hours of " pampering". So anyway finally we were on our way out and the reception lady politely says lets go through all the treatments you've done so had to turn around walk back in and she smacked us with a bill R920.....what???? Seriously??? After all the pain and effort I had to go through to get their help in creating a package for both of us for our vouchers, after all the confusion pain and aweful service and now a bill? I would of rather let them keep the vouchers we got and never have used them for that experience and now I needed to pay for it?! Firstly if it was not for the vouchers I would never have gone their in the first place just by the experience I had with reception and the booking process but now I was forced to pay for something I would never have gone for in the first place. Worst spa I have ever been too by far!!!! Will never go back or recommend it to any one!!

My husband made a booking for 10 : AM and I was so happy until I got there. The security guard was so nice ,directed us and I was impressed thinking this is top class ,One of the ladies from reception showed me around and informed me that my the****** will come and fetch me from the inside pool, I sat down and enjoyed myself, Another lady/client came in ,They attended her, And I'm still waiting...but I didn't have a problem because I was a bit early so I waited still,30 minutes later two other ladies came in and immediately they were attended to and I was still waiting and no one is asking me anything, People are just passing me.I had to go back to the reception and ask when I they coming to fetch me ,The ladies apologised but I was very angry because they don't know how to take care of their customers. I don't think I will go back again because it was past my appointment time,I couldn't even enjoy everything ..But the lady that was doing the massage was not bad but I was already disappointed.

I made a booking for a 10 AM Mama Mia Pregnancy massage for Saturday 08 April. In my email correspondence with Tanya Olivier, her communication clearly stated that a 10am treatment was booked and confirmed. Upon arrival, I was shocked and extremely upset to know that Tanya booked a 12.30PM treatment. Conveniently Tanya was not able to find her email confirming the 10AM booking. She blatantly lied to me, her customer, stating that she only mentioned a 12.30PM booking. I have emails which prove otherwise. Tanya also advised that I, her customer, will have to "shift my day around" to accommodate the 12.30PM treatment. Why should I, the CUSTOMER, be incovenienced because your employee is too incompetent to do her job properly and too dishonest to admit fault? I am also more upset that Tanya didn't seem to have the integrity to apologise for this error ON HER PART.

I will endeavour to share this horrible, dishonest and disgusting experience with the public. Never underestimate the power of the customer, especially if the customer is a Quality Assurance professional.

My husband and I booked a Christmas gift to each other which included massages and pedicures at the Renaissance Day Spa, 3 January 2017. This proved to be a terrible experience as the air conditioners were not working. We were not informed upon booking nor upon arrival; only once in the treatment rooms were we told that a problem with the air conditioners existed. My husband suffers from hyper hydrosis and therefore, what was meant to be a relaxing experience, turned out to be very uncomfortable for him. R1300 is quite a hefty price tag for this experience. The airconditioners were also not working in the bathrooms, making the use of the facilities very difficult for him. In addition, I am 7 months pregnant and found the experience to be counter to what was expected. This issue must be taken seriously as we were informed that this was the state of the spa for the past 2 working days and Centre Management was blamed. Whilst that may be the case, clients must be informed to re-book treatments rather than lured to the spa under false pretenses.
