We booked a car through Rentalcars.com from Alamo on arrival we were informed that we cant add my fiance as a extra driver and pay with her credit card. Our already rental payment was penalized with a 70% cancelation fee and had to Uber. Worst customer service .

I wish I had read all the reviews on Hello Peter before booking through rentalcars.com / booking.com. They booked me a same-day car rental through Alamo in the USA, only to find when I got to the Alamo rental counter that Alamo doesn't do same-day car rentals, and didn't have any stock available. Why does rentalcars.com book me this car when Alamo doesn't have the car available? This seems dishonest to me. When trying to claim a refund, they were entirely unhelpful, telling me that it appeared to them that I had picked up the car. You would think they would ask Alamo whether this is indeed the case but, no, this is seemingly too difficult for them to do. Instead, I am left stuck in-between them and Alamo. So, lesson learnt for me, I will rather go direct through a car rental company.

I wish I had read all the reviews on Hello Peter before booking through rentalcars.com / booking.com. They booked me a same-day car rental through Alamo in the USA, only to find when I got to the Alamo rental counter that Alamo doesn't do same-day car rentals, and didn't have any stock available. Why does rentalcars.com book me this car when Alamo doesn't have the car available? This seems dishonest to me. When trying to claim a refund, they were entirely unhelpful, telling me that it appeared to them that I had picked up the car. You would think they would ask Alamo whether this is indeed the case but, no, this is seemingly too difficult for them to do. Instead, I am left stuck in-between them and Alamo. I booked online and nowhere they explained I had to have a credit card to pick up the car and pay another fees, when I asked to cancel they’re dropping my calls before confirming the cancellation like all of their stuff is trained to **** people, I so wish people can refrain from using this agency they’re full of nonsense ****** ****mers 🚮🚮🚮

I have rented a car from Woodford Care hire from 11 Feb- 18 Feb from Cape Town international through rentalcar.com (**********84 ref#). When I arrived there I was told that they do not accept debit cards and that i need to transfer the funds via carhire.com to another car hire place. The cars that were available were SUV's and mini vans which I didn't want. And the Woodford agent was not very helpful in assisting me. I then contacted carhire.com. They assured me they will refund me as soon as Woodford repay their money. Up to-date which is a month later no refunds were received. According to rentalcar.com Woodford is not getting back to them. I will give the same review to them as this is really an eye opener and I will never make use of their services again.

I have rented a car with the above mentioned company and i was reaped off. Firstly i was told that the rental was going to be R5900 which i made the payment of the 20th December at 5:30am and went to collect the car at 10am and the collection was not a success as i didn't have a credit car. I then called rental car. com and a rude lady assisted me and told me i will loose my booking fee as the 48hrs has passed. to my surprise which 48hrs because i booked the car on the 20th and collecting was the 20th and it was only 4 and half hours. why was i charged cancellation fee for 48hrs while i didn't take 48hrs to cancel but less than 5 hours. The lady was rude and didn't want to listen to my side of the story. I need my balance of R900 as what they did is to cheat me .

Be aware. Using Booking.com to also book your rental on Rentalcars.com is extremely convenient. BUT!! If you have a last minute cancellation due to an expired licence, they will keep the full rental amount. In our case my wife's licence expired and we lost 8 days full amount for car hire. I can understand that there will be a penalty fee. But surely the vehicle is available for re-hire to other customers within a day or so. This is ******* and the question begs - who gets the money? Rather book your vehicle directly with the rental companies.

Be aware. Using Booking.com to also book your rental on Rentalcars.com is extremely convenient. BUT!! If you have a last minute cancellation due to an expired licence, they will keep the full rental amount. In our case my wife's licence expired and we lost 8 days full amount for car hire. I can understand that there will be a penalty fee. But surely the vehicle is available for re-hire to other customers within a day or so. This is ******* and the question begs - who gets the money? Rather book your vehicle directly with the rental companies.

Make sure you read the fineprint in detail. I arrived at Firstcar, the car which I booked via Rentalcars.com, they informed me that their CC machine does not accept tap, telling me how many customers are frustrated with the situation. I have not carried a physical cards for months. Firstcar refused to give me a car and really inconvenienced me. When I approached Rentalcars.com they told me that I should have cliecked on the detailed T&C !
