SCR Locksmiths - Overpriced and Unprofessional

This company may respond to calls quickly but they fail badly in other respects. I had broken the key inside the lock when trying to unlock my house door. They were not my first choice but the locksmith I wanted was not available and ir was getting late. They charged R650 just for the callout..An SCR vehicle with five occupants came. The original lock was removed and they then wanted another R200 to fix another replacement lock. I had no choice but to agree otherwise I would have had no lock at all and no security. The lock they fitted was faulty and substandard and the securing latch fitting into the doorframe was the wrong way round, resulting in the door not being able to close properly. I called the company, speaking to the director, Ridwaan Ali, stating that I was having problems with the new lock, closing the door and keeping it closed. He said he would come again but never did. Subsequent persistent and repeated calls to both numbers for SCR were then not answered and I discovered that my cell number had been blocked, thus preventing me from calling. A written message to the director on WhatsApp was also ignored and no further communication was ever forthcoming from SCR or the director. I subsequently contacted and took advice from another locksmith who kindly came around and promptly fitted a new and perfectly functioning lock for my house door. He informed me that the previously fitted SCR lock was unsuitable and would most probably have eventually jammed. It was clearly a sub-standard and unfit lock for purpose to begin with. Blocking a customer and ignoring a rightful complaint is unacceptable. Fitting a dud or inferior second hand lock for an extra R200 is both ludicrously overpriced, unprofessional and ***********. If done knowingly, it would also be tantamount to *****. Altogether they were paid R850 in cash for a job that had to be redone - this time properly.by a truly experienced and capable locksmith. I would urge customers to be very cautious in dealing with SCR locksmiths. They are most certainly very expensive and not as capable and professional as their write up and advertising portrays them to be.
