Overpriced and incorrect diagnosis

My gas stove needed fixing this weekend, so I called Simply FIX to see if they could fix it. (I found them on Google.) They charged a R350 call-out fee, which was understandable. They insisted on the fee being paid first before they would send a quote, which I understood, too. After the call-out fee was paid, I received a quote.

The quote was totally overpriced! They charged R3,638.25 for a gas regulator. (After receiving another quote from a second service provider, the regulator costs less than R300!)

The two men who came to look at my gas stove said that the valves had been damaged and a replacement kit would cost R910. They charged R850 for labour, bringing the total amount for the quote to R5,398.25.

The second service provider sent me a quote after coming through to look at my gas stove, which cost less than R800 to replace the regulator. (Labour included!) No valves were needed! There was nothing wrong with them.

I’ve never experienced such an overpriced quote in all of my life.
