I have noted in the last two weeks several companies pushed their prices up under the pretext of the proposed VAT increase. This, however, was done on the backbone of the VAT increase, which was terminated today. I have noted that despite the VAT increase cancelation, no service provider changed their price increase. I find this opportunistic and shortfins in future business. I for one will not accept the price increases and will terminate services under these pretext of a VAT increase.

I've dealt with SMTax for over 4 years so when my numerous emails were not responded to for a month in Septemberlast year, I reluctantly took my business elsewhere. Buchule Sibaca, once receiving an email from my new tax consultant, suddenly sprung to life and responded to me directly saying that rather than give the new tax consultant my profile details, he had submitted phase one of my return and a portion of the money was on it's way. I thanked him for his communication and requested that he then proceed with phase two of my return. I included all invoices and documents that I include every year - being a commission earner I get audited every year so always send the documents upfront, to speed up the process and for clarity's sake. Subsequent to this correspondence in October last year, I've received nothing in the way of a response from SARs or finalizing of the payment. I mailed Sibs again and again and again, sometimes twice a day but never got a response. Now it is February and he has handed my case over to someone else who thankfully responds to email and picks up her phone. She has spoken with SARS and subsequently SARS has paid me less than 1/5th of what they should have paid me, with the reason being that they requested documents 4 times over the last 4 months, and never got a response. Why SMTAX would you try so hard to hold on to my business and then completely ignore SARS' efforts to get the documents they need in order to pay me back what they owe me? Not since Telkom have I had service so poor. I suggest someone in this company assist me with the full refund due to me. Levonne.Apsey
