My father was a member of solidarity for over 30 years paying his membership fee promptly every month. Sadly my father passed away in February 2025. According to solidarity's funeral benefits my mother would receive R 3000 should my father pass away - she didn't receive one penny till today. Furthermore we would receive 100 pamphlets free - we had to pay for it. We could choose between 5 coffins- we could only choose between 3. The use of a green carpet at the grave- no carpet, we were sliding in the mud around the grave. I called solidarity regarding this awful service. I was told by solidarity that their funeral benefits had changed in 2022 and these benefits no longer apply. I asked solidarity how this was communicated to their members. I was told by e-mail. I then asked for proof to be mailed to me. 2 Days later I recieved feedback that the communication was send by sms. Again I asked for proof. 6 Days later I received feedback, a one line description, a cell nr, date, time and a message to follow a link. "This could have easily been made by anyone who can type" Again I asked for a complete copy of this correspondence including the " link". I was then told that the correspondence was sufficient and the link doesn't exist anymore as they are using a new platform. I asked why the premium did not change as all these benefits are no longer beneficial. I was told that solidarity's main focus is trade union and the funeral plan has no influence on the premium. Solidarity is a useless money making business that doesn't care about their members. I hope people will see through their false promises. Maybe "Carte Blanche " I also read other rewies about solidarity, they don't seem to be very helpful in other cases as well. Disgusting
