On 3 August 2025, we were guests at the Sondela Holiday Resort. Early that morning, we discovered that there had been a break-in at our chalet. We immediately informed the resort, and security personnel were dispatched to our unit. Approximately two hours later, the police arrived to take our statement. During a conversation with the security manager, he informed us that there had been a security breach and that suspects had managed to gain access to the premises. The explanation given was implausible. According to the story, the intruders somehow navigated the large resort grounds—despite being unfami**** with the layout—and walked directly to our chalet. They then used a duplicate key to enter while we were asleep and removed our belongings. The suggestion that we may have been drugged made even less sense. Throughout our stay, we received no communication or support from resort management. There was no courtesy call, and no one came to check on us. We had to go to the management office ourselves to report the incident. We were told someone would contact us on Monday, but no one did. On Tuesday, I followed up with a call and was brushed off, being told to send an email instead, as this was “an isolated incident.” Eventually, I received an email from the resort that not only dismissed our concerns but also suggested that we may have fabricated the incident. They insisted it was an isolated case. However, upon conducting my own research, I discovered a similar incident had occurred on 23 December 2024. In that case too, the resort accused the guests of fabricating the story. The resort’s claim that this was an isolated incident is misleading. Between January and August 2025 alone, I found evidence of four other similar break-ins. Yet the resort has taken no responsibility and has not informed guests about these incidents so they could take precautions. Instead of addressing the issue transparently, the resort reportedly sent a threatening letter to a guest involved in one of the incidents, warning her she would be sued if she spoke about it on social media.

We were there for my Birthday and it was amazing,we truly had a blast. We were in the Country House ,the staff there was so friendly and accommodating 👌🏾Especially Altina ,Thabang, and the chef’s they were so professional from the moments we walked in and made sure we were comfortable and had everything that we needed . The Spa was amazing,the whole experience was relaxing and the staff was so good and professional,I enjoyed every moment of it.And Zandre from the Wildlife Centre was so good and passionate about the animals.we will definitely be going back soon🫶🏾

Group booking disaster. From the Booking Manager Tshidi,unprofessional. Arrival at the gate was a mess, we had to pay for fees that we were not told about. When we checked in at 1 of the units, there were people unknown to us. The unit i slept in was dirty and had alot of dust (Makhato 105) Unfriendly staff at the kiddies rides. Pizza took almost 2 hours at the main pool, yoh hai am traumatized... Don't do it guys, stay away.

We have been sending mails for 2 days now trying to make a booking, we followed up this morning by calling. The receptionist was supposed to phone back to confirm booking and up to now, no call or email. Their booking system is up to 💩

I don't even know where to begin the way I am heartbroken💔we booked with sondela Nature Reserve in June 2024 for 3 nights day between the 5th to the 8th December 2024. On Thursday the 5th of December 2024 on arrival at the security gate we discovered that our reservation was not on the guest list. We informed security that the reception said our keys will be left at the gate because we had called earlier on the day that we are running late. We were shocked that we are not on the guest list and security called the manager who was on shift that night it was around 7:30pm. The manager just told us we are not confirmed and there is nothing he can do we must return back. We were 15 women at night. He didn't care what was happening to us even after security told him we have proof of payment and emails. The treatment we received was so disgusting and disrespectful. Even now we been taken to Pillar to post for our refund.

Do not buy Fractional Ownerships from Sondela/Funseekers.. You will not get rid of it! They fail numerous times to Rent out your Weeks provided. I have been trying for 2 Years to get some/all of my Fractional shares Sold, but Sondela/Funseekers just don't care about selling Customers Shares, only selling new shares every time. They upmarket and oversell their Fractions to Customers and before you know it, you are in a lot of Debt. Levies gone up with R12 700 from 2024 to 2025 because they want to renovate the units & we must pay that extra on top of the already R26 000 Levies that you have to pay yearly. Extremely disappointed with their Customer Service and Hospitality for their Investors. Not recommended!!!

Do not buy Fractional Ownerships from Sondela/Funseekers.. You will not get rid of it! They fail numerous times to Rent out your Weeks provided. I have been trying for 2 Years to get some/all of my Fractional shares Sold, but Sondela/Funseekers just don't care about selling Customers Shares, only selling new shares every time. They upmarket and oversell their Fractions to Customers and before you know it, you are in a lot of Debt. Levies gone up with R12 700 from 2024 to 2025 because they want to renovate the units & we must pay that extra on top of the already R26 000 Levies that you have to pay yearly. Extremely disappointed with their Customer Service and Hospitality for their Investors. Not recommended!!!

I have had this time share for close to 30 years. There has been no issues until the end of 2022. For over the past 10 years I have chosen the rental pool option. At the beginning of every year I would need to send an email to be included in the rental pool option. I would sometimes receive a confirmation and at other times not receive a confirmation. Regardless of this I would still receive my rental income. For 2023 and 2024, I did not receive a confirmation. When I checked this month, I was advised that no email was received. After submitting proof of my email, I was advised that this could have possibly gone into spam and I was asked if I would like to get rid of my timeshare. i.e. dispose of. After querying a few more times, I was advised that the monies for 2023 was split up and no further monies was available. It appears that I will also not be sharing in the 2024. I have also requested that this matter be escalated and have had no feedback regarding this.

If you would like to take your spouse somewhere for the weekend whether its for birthday or aniversary i would definetely not recomend sondela COUNTRY HOUSE. If u arrange to do something special and want your room to be made up with flowers champaighn etc they just ignore it very bad service. We have family from over sea that wanted to come to their country house... They wil definitely not be visiting sondela.

If you would like to take your spouse somewhere for the weekend whether its for birthday or aniversary i would definetely not recomend sondela COUNTRY HOUSE. If u arrange to do something special and want your room to be made up with flowers champaighn etc they just ignore it very bad service. We have family from over sea that wanted to come to their country house... They wil definitely not be visiting sondela.
