Before I go any further with my review please if you using STOPSHOP.CO.ZA please read the terms and conditions.
I purchased a Nav Unit for my VW Polo 2012 on the 23rd. During the checkout I just clicked the terms and conditions as we all do. I received the preforma invoice and paid for the item in question. I didn't read the fine print at the bottom of the invoice that said doesn't included import duties and taxes.
I then was very unhappy when TNT Couriers phone looking for information to process the import and was told of the additional charge. It was only then that I went on the website on my PC as I was using my mobile to read the terms and conditions. Which state all about the import duties and taxes.
Therefore nothing was hidden and nobody lied to me I just chose not to read it and just clicked on the box.
The service and feedback I received was excellent and was above the industry norm when it comes to queries that you log. I was helped by Claudio.
I received the unit on the 28th way ahead of the said time of arrival. I then went to one of the approved installers to have the unit fitted and was told that they have to cut the loom as the unit stayed on after the key was removed. It was explained to me about the VW CAN-bus system and that was the reason for cutting the loom. I stopped the installation immediately.
I contacted STOPSHOP again to find out if this is allowed as in the terms and conditions it states no cutting of wires. The response was quick once again from Claudio who informed me of the plug that needs to be unplugged from the CAN-bus as when the loom is shipped it is plugged in, he also informed me that if this doesn't fix the problem then to go ahead with the cutting of the wire on the radio loom not the car and running of new wire to the radio.
I took the Unit to a different installers who during installation unplugged the plug that Claudio had mention without me telling him to do so.
The unit fitted nicely into the space and all the functions work as advertised only problem was the front doors worked the wrong way around. Once again Claudio was fast to reply and guide me in the right direction and it was fixed.
I'm a happy customer the unit is working as advertised. Although was a little hot under the collar about the extra costs.
Just remember there were two opportunities were they informed you about the extra costs once on the checkout were you click that you have read the terms and conditions and then again on the proforma invoice before you paid for the item.
